Lushington D. Brady: Nosy Nana Smacked over the Snout

Actions have consequences. Even for nosy-nanas.

Just because some batty old tilty-head boomer trying to fill her empty, post-child-bearing years with ‘causes’ has an overweening sense of her own righteousness, doesn’t set the law aside. If you forge a document and pretend to be someone you’re not, that’s a crime.

It also doesn’t matter how much your entitled little cronies squawk and fluff their feathers.

A Dunedin climate activist, who was found guilty on two forgery-related charges, remains unrepentant about her actions.

Of course she does. Self-righteousness is the fuel that keeps these interfering old biddies clucking along. That, and a planet-sized ego that admits not even the possibility of being wrong.

That jury returned the verdict following a three-day trial for Rosemary Anne Penwarden, 64, on charges of making a false document and using a false document, with the latter carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years’ jail.

Penwarden, who gave no reaction to the verdict, argued that the letter she wrote, and then sent to delegates of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand (Pepanz) conference in September, 2019, was satire.

The guilty verdict would not change how she protested: “This is a motivation for me to continue doing what I do.”

She would not do a “single thing different”, she said, because humankind had only a few short years to tackle climate change.

These dotty, clapped-out, old battery hens have been clucking the same idiot chorus for the last few decades. Yet, the whole time they’ve raced about, squawking that the sky is falling, it’s apparently never once impinged on their peanut-sized consciousness that the sky is still firmly in place.

During the trial the Crown argued her intent was to disrupt the petroleum conference, under the “thinly veiled defence of satire”.

“It was definitely to get attention,” Penwarden told the court.

Well, that’s probably true enough: desperately seeking attention is what these old boilers live for.

After the verdict, those in the public gallery, supporters of Penwarden, sang “Te Aroha”.

Because, of course they did.

Lushington describes himself as Punk rock philosopher. Liberalist contrarian. Grumpy old bastard. This article was first published HERE

Delusional thought has become mainstream, throughout the kingdom.
Its tough being a pragmatic realist these days.

This is just an ad homina (femina) ranting to get frustration off your chest. Not saying you're wrong in essence but I thought you were more articulate and sophisticated.
We tried to teach our children better than name-calling. Please try harder.
