David Farrar: Labour’s hysteria

Newshub reports:

Chris Hipkins has doubled down on his accusation the Government is acting like a dictatorship.

The labour leader took his troops on a soul-searching field trip today where one MP even momentarily likened the Coalition to russia's regime.

Yep, Labour MPs are comparing the Government to Putin because it is using urgency to implement its election promises.

Now one can have a rational critique of whether the Government is using urgency too often, but having the Opposition Leader call it a dictatorship is hysteria which demeans his role.

Liam Hehir helpfully tweets Chris Hipkins. no less moving urgency on a massive 24 bills!

It is a sign of desperation for relevance when Labour combine hypocrisy and hysteria.

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders.

We knew Labour and its allies would play very dirty in Opposition - since they know no other strategy.

The man is a moron. This govt is the much needed antithesis of everything Labour stood for.
Chris Hipkins in govt was the epitome of why arrogance & stupidity is always a dangerous combination. He passed 24 Bills under urgency, including those that destroyed our economy & undermined our democratic & human rights. He was Stalinda’s right had man with a finger in every rotten pie. Without the baubles of power to hide behind he is just really really stupid man.

The simple fact that for a time he led the worst govt in this countries history where they behaved in a terrible fashion and implemented racist policies and yet he has the gall to say this govt is comparable to Russia!! Shows how deluded he is.

I can only hope that kiwis send a message to him and they drop further in the polls. I hope labour keep him tho, hs so incompetent he's good for the opposition.

Labour behaved like a dictatorship for most of its last two terms. The hypocrisy is at cadaver levels. Their souls couldn't be more diseased and dead.

Hipkins is only letting his own followers hear what they want to hear - is anybody else really giving him any credibility ?
Juvenile and petty spring to mind.
He can be persuaded to say anything, and follow through on it - the prime example is listening to his mother, Rosemary Hipkins, then getting his Labour Government to force Maori myths and legends as a "science" into every students curriculum.

PS Of course, Labour's plans went badly awry so he must be disappointed.

He was supposed to finish Ardern's radical agenda, win the election and then get his own big reward - London High Commission? - as he handed over to the first Maori PM of NZ, Ms Mahuta.

Tough luck.....people saw the light in time.
