Capitalist: The Covid Inquiry That Isn’t

Imagine you have some friends at your house for a social gathering. Suddenly a gun-toting criminal bursts in the door with a shotgun, takes aim at one of your chums and opens fire. Your friend is lying on the floor, dead, with a gaping hole in his chest. Shocking and tragic. You dial 111 and shortly afterwards the police arrive.

Here is where it all gets a bit surreal. Imagine if Inspector Plod were to say “That isn’t a dead body; there’s no dead body here – you’re just trying to make mischief and waste police time“, with threats to arrest everybody for making such mischief. You would be starting to think you’d taken leave of your senses, wouldn’t you?

This is the sort of thing that is occurring with the so-called “Covid Inquiry”. As is surprisingly normal and predictable with these inquiries, the intention is to create only the appearance of “due diligence”. What bothers those in power is setting some sort of precedent – for instance, prison terms for dictatorial leaders who break the law – and so the rush is on to protect members of the previous socialist Government from any sort of blame for their actions.

The first crock of doo-doo was the four minutes or so of (ahem) “public submissions” – complete with an advertising campaign on television. Nothing more than a card trick. By the time anybody put together a submission the time had expired and those who did make it were told they’d have to edit things down (remove the criticism of Ardern). Oh, and a little birdie tells me lots of Labour Party apparatchiks, curiously, were able to make submissions singing the praises of the pandemic response.

Various other things are off limits – in addition to criticism of Ardern – such as criticism of the vaccine (“Are you a scientist or Doctor?”), criticism of the debts incurred, damage to the economy, closing the border and hiding under the covers for three years, the lack of any actual cases in the entire South Island before the second August 2021 lockdown, the illegality of refusing entry into New Zealand of New Zealand citizens. You get the general idea, dear reader. It’s a complete jack-up with a report (long since written) exonerating Ardern and Co for their actions – and criticising the rubes and racists who dared to speak out against her.

Sort of a Commission of Inquiry version of a policeman telling you “That’s not a dead body” when your friend is splattered all over your lounge room.

Do not be surprised when they come to the conclusion that New Zealand’s response to the pandemic was the best in the world and the only thing lacking for the next one is even greater restrictions on civil liberties and freedoms. After all, they called for public submissions and got 3000 responses – all from people living at the same address (Labour Party HQ) – saying how marvellous it all was. Doesn’t that prove it comrades? Oh, there were a few other submissions, but we felt those people weren’t educated or were racists, so didn’t bother reading them. Conspiracy theory nutters and all that. (Never mind, eh?)

The commissioners are reminiscent of the character “Ruth” (Rose’s Mother) in the movie “Titanic” asking her daughter whether she wants to end up destitute. “Who is going to employ me ever again if I start telling the truth?!? Are you mad? We HAVE to make the Covid inquiry a whitewash or else I’ll have to go and live abroad – throw away decades of respect I’ve built up“.

Welcome to NZ priorities 2024 folks…

Great analogy Capitalist. The enquiry has all the hallmarks of being another whitewash to follow all historical whitewashes. Not only will the corrupt Ardern Govt try to protect itself but it’s in every sitting MP’s best interest, on both sides of the house who did nothing but look the other way, achieve a whitewash.

It's exactly the same as asking the police or the armed forces, or any body, to carry out an investigation into their own alleged misconduct. Do you think you're going to get an honest outcome?
But it's "independent", right?

Most enquiries which criticise the body doing the investigation aren't worth the paper they're written on and I suspect the Covid enquiry will be no different. Every party in parliament supported Labour's draconian Covid restrictions so they're hardly likely to admit they stuffed up.

As is the way these days, it will take small, truly independent sources who keep chipping away and building up enough evidence until the dam breaks.
That works only if we have enough independent media sources to air the information and a public willing to look around for alternative news.

When the people responsible for the scam are the ones doing the investigation, there won't be any justice.

Of course it will be a whitewash. They have said, in recent days, it will be completed by September, so my cynical guess is at least half of the report has already been written.

The predictable substantive conclusions of the Inquiry will tell us one thing, but the way the Inquiry will be conducted (as outlined in this post) will tell us something completely different. Both will be data points from which the public can reach a conclusion, but only the latter will provide a basis for a true conclusion, which is that our entire political establishment were complicit, are dishonest or stupid, and therefore are not fit to govern us.

I am a specialist paediatrician of 28 years, who lost my right to practice medicine, because I failed to ‘get vaccinated’ for covid.
My reasons for choosing not to be were rational and evidence based.
I have provided a 29 page submission to the Covid Inquiry, including brief commentary criticising (ex) prime minister Ardern for her naivety with regards to medicine ever claiming to have a ‘single source of truth’.
The commission responded to me last week that because my submission length was over 20,000 CHARACTERS total, THEY ( i’m assuming here that ‘they’ are the minions tasked with collating the data)would take it upon themselves to summarise my submission into its “KEY POINTS”
I’ve quoted extensively from our own College of Physicians Guidelines on Medical Ethics, from the Medical Council’s Statement on dealing with pharmaceutical companies; on Professor of Ethics John Banja from his text “Medical Error and Medical Narcissism” and from the teachings we get as doctors regarding the centrality of the individual in Evidence Based Medicine.
I included all these things because from a specialist medical viewpoint they are ALL key to understanding what has been done.
I can just see the mincemeat about to be made by the commission of my many hours of work. It seems that the ‘single source of truth’ isn’t finished with us yet.

Well I guess that is what this Country gets, when it allows a Socialist Govt (the last Labour group, who thought they knew how to rule)- and the People who are submissive and/or have their collective approach to life etc but distracted - example the all Blacks losing a Rugby game - the outpouring of 'grief' - on social media oh dear.

What should be looked at, is how a former Communications staffer (to Helen Clark) became a backbench member of the Labour party, who sat for 9 years in the 'wilderness' suddenly becomes the Deputy of the Party, then suddenly (overnight) the leader?

The other factor, is 'upon stepping back from being Leader', she suddenly had a Royal Knighthood bestowed upon her!

Another comparison is Daniel Andrews, Leader Labour Party - State of Victoria, Australia - and what he got away with over the years he was the elected Premier (twice) - who also 'walked away' there being no accountability check[s] on him either. He has been replaced by a female, a noted Socialist, who is currently showing 'a lack of leadership & ability' strange that!

Strange that accountability does not exist for MP's but can be applied to others- who can end up losing everything.

To Dr Breen @ 4.06. Sorry about that. Please keep up the good work. Understand that we have witnessed the worst govt in our history led by Ardern. She will be loathed more as time goes on and truth comes out. This will damage the left more. How sad . :p
