Ele Ludemann: Labour’s legacy, National’s responsibility

Government debt ballooned under Labour, it now amounts to $90,000 for every household in the country.

That’s a lot of money to owe and the interest on it amounts to billions of dollars that are needed for other priorities including education, health and infrastructure.

The steep increase in debt is Labour’s legacy. Reducing it is the National-led coalition’s responsibility and one it must take very seriously.

Labour’s six years in power were characterised by wrong priorities, poor, or no, delivery and waste.

National and its coalition partners must set and act on the right priorities, deliver and deliver with value for money, and stop all the waste.

Dont worry. Only figures. As in Venezuela, 1920s Germany, Argentina etc etc. I remember when Muldoon scared the country with the then govt debt per person seemed astronomic. Only mug savers were severely scarred.

With this much debt per person breathing in NZ, all funding for the Waitangi Tribunal must be stopped today! That includes all the costs we have to bear on ridiculous claims (yes we are paying both sides). The old adage that when you are in a hole stop digging has never been more apt. This Country could be so well off it it were not for the rank stupidity and fraudulent activities that have been allowed by successive governments. All our collective wealth would appear to have been flushed down the toilet.
