Lushington Brady: Spanish Town Forbids Islamic Celebrations

Spaniards haven’t forgotten what it’s like to be ruled by Islam.

As Britain edges closer and closer to open rebellion from its indigenous peoples, indigenes in other European countries are growing increasingly vocal about the colonisation of their ancestral lands by waves of violent foreigners pushing an alien, supremacist, ideology.

Spain, which remembers a thing or two about being invaded by Muslims, is taking steps to try and make sure that the Reconquista stays reconquista’d. The town of Jumilla, in south-eastern Spain, recently banned Muslim religious celebrations.

It is the first prohibition of its kind in Spain. It was proposed by Jumilla’s Conservative administration and passed with [Spanish nationalist party] Vox’s (surprising) abstention. It bans the use of municipal facilities such as sports halls for ‘religious, cultural or social activities alien to our identity unless organised by the local authority’. This senseless legislation means that the 7.5 per cent of Jumilla’s 27,000 citizens who come from Muslim countries will no longer be able to publicly celebrate Islam’s two main festivals – Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan in March, and Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, held in early June.

‘Senseless’? Sounds entirely sensible to me. But leave it to the normiecons to clutch their pearls about the hurty-feelings of glass-jawed jihadis.

Jumilla’s ban is a knee-jerk reaction to anti-migrant riots in Torre-Pacheco, a town 70 miles to the south, in which approximately 18 per cent of the 35,000 residents are of African origin. On 9 July, a local pensioner was allegedly beaten up by three Moroccan men, prompting two nights of violent protests. Locals armed with baseball bats reportedly took to the streets, responding to calls on social media by right wing groups to target North African migrants. A kebab shop was vandalised and 14 people were arrested.

Reacting to the riots in Torre-Pacheco and Jumilla’s ban on Muslim celebrations, Mounir Benjelloun Andaloussi Azhari, president of the Spanish Federation of Islamic Organisations, said he was ‘rather surprised by what’s happening in Spain. For the first time in 30 years I feel afraid.’

Well, now you know how non-Muslims have been feeling for the last 30 years.

And what many Spaniards with long memories have never forgotten.

As Juana Guardiola, a former Socialist mayor of Jumilla, has rightly asked, ‘What do they mean by identity? And what about the centuries of Muslim legacy here?’

Guardiola refers to a period of Spanish history that lasted from the early-eighth to late fifteenth centuries. For almost eight hundred years, Al Andaluz, as Islamic Spain was known, thrived under Muslim rule.

If it was so great, why did Spaniards fight so hard to get rid of it? In fact, the Muslim conquest of Spain meant that, for nearly a millennium, Christian Spaniards were literal second-class citizens in their native land. Key to Muslim rule was what Mark Durie calls The Third Choice: conversion, death, or dhimmitude. Dhimmitude, which modern revisionists try to hold up as somehow ‘tolerant’, was in fact deeply repressive. Dhimmis – non-Muslims – were forbidden from holding full rights. While fully subject to indiscriminate violence from Muslims, non-Muslims were not allowed to retaliate.

As academic Dario Fernández-Morera puts it:

The plain fact is that Islamic law in medieval Spain imposed humiliating conditions on Christian dhimmis to ensure that absolute power remained in the proper hands. Those restrictions were quite successful in their purpose, at least for several centuries.

Not only were Christians and Jews forced to pay a tax simply for existing, but the tax was exacted in a deliberately violent and humiliating manner.

The dhimmi, standing, would present the money to the Muslim collector who would be sitting higher up on a sort of throne; this Muslim bureaucrat would hold the dhimmi by the throat telling him “Oh dhimmi, enemy of Allah, pay the jizya that you owe us for the protection and tolerance we grant you”; the other Muslims present would imitate the collector, pushing around the dhimmi and whoever other dhimmis accompanied him. To this amusing spectacle should be admitted any Muslim who wanted to enjoy it.

Beatings were also common in the collection of jizya.

Along with this brutal ritual humiliation, non-Muslims in Spain were forced to wear distinguishing clothing (not unlike the Nazis’ yellow stars), were greatly restricted in building churches or synagogues and forbidden from holding public office or testifying against Muslims in court.

No wonder the Spanish aren’t so keen on seeing Islam get a toehold in their country again.

Lushington describes himself as Punk rock philosopher. Liberalist contrarian. Grumpy old bastard. This article was first published HERE

I can't see how these rules are stopping Muslims from exercising their religion. They can do so, but they can't expect the rest of the population to support their religion through use of the Town's facilities. If they don't like the local rules, they shouldn't go there in the first place. It's no different than Christian, Hindu or Buddhist celebrations being banned from municipal facilities in Arabia or Iran, but no one complains about that.

Can I pick up on the paragraph - " Along with this brutal ritual humiliation.." - we are seeing this occurring in and across the United Kingdom.
Examples -
- any former Christian Church, abandoned by the Church, immediately taken over by the Muslim faith and turned into a Mosque.
- another interesting one is Local Councils and " their knee bending" to the Muslim Population - one recent incident is the flying of Palestinian Flags in the High Street, with the Union Jack & Flag of St George being removed as it " has been deemed, by guess who " as being offensive.
- also the British Islamic Council, who have decided that they " have the remit" to censure any & all UK MSM.
- British Prison Authorities having to establish "Mosques " within Prisons so that the Muslim prisoners have a place to pray, rather than in their cells.
- British Christians being " told by Police " that they can no longer stand on a street and preach their Religion and/or speak to People when asked questions about Christian Beliefs - this is considered 'toxic' (by guess who), but they are allowed to conduct mass prayer vigils in an open space and have a Police presence, to protect them.
There is a growing frustration with the English Community, they see the continued arrival of immigrants from France, see them housed and given money & clothing, the increase in crime as perpetrated by these immigrants with nothing being done (other that a PM who is all smoke & mirrors) - and as one "pundit" in England has stated - " We are heading toward a Civil War ".
So if the Spanish " show how it is done "?? then we may see the same reaction from the English and no doubt followed by the public of France, who have also had enough.
