David Farrar: Little support from Māori for TPM leader and deputies

Radio NZ reports on a poll of 328 Maori, which asked about Te Pati Maori. They asked who should lead TPM, and the current leaders did not come out well. They got:
  • Leader John Tamihere: 5%
  • Co-deputy leader Rawiri Waititi 12%
  • Co-deputy leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer 7%
So that just 24% for the three leaders. The other MPs were:
  • Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke: 19%
  • Takuta Ferris: 11%
  • Mariameno Kapa-Kingi: 6%
  • Oriini Kaipara: 3%
That’s 39% for one of the four MPs who are estranged from the leadership.

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders

It does not much matter, whoever is favoured will be blatantly pro maori. A long as maori voters do not default to Labour for their seat vote, it is due overhang a gauranteed 7 bonus seats for maori selfish interest
