Immediately after the Australian budget Roy Morgan ran a snap poll across 2,348 voters Australia-wide to see where the parties sat in terms of popularity. The poll revealed some staggering numbers. The reasons were listed in detail and many of them could apply equally to the political situation in this country. If National, in particular, want to win big they should take heed of the reasons given for the increased support shown for Pauline Hanson's nationalist party One Nation.
If a Federal election was held right now it would be too close to call: Not between the governing Labor Party and the Liberal/National coalition, but between Labor and One Nation. One Nation had more primary support (32 per cent) than Labor (28.5 per cent), and almost double the support of the L-NP coalition (16.5 per cent), the Greens (11.5 per cent), others and independents also (11.5 per cent). On a two-party preferred basis Labor came in at 51 per cent while One Nation registered an astonishing 49 per cent just two points behind. Labor has a 10 per cent lead over the coalition (55 per cent to 45 per cent). This type of result augurs well for NZ First in the November election.
The reasons given for supporting One Nation are not surprising, coming from conservative voters. The responses show that One Nation voters are primarily motivated by:
The reasons given for supporting One Nation are not surprising, coming from conservative voters. The responses show that One Nation voters are primarily motivated by:

So far, most of what National voters would agree with is emanating from Shane Jones. Apart from being a ‘nationalist’ party, the no-nonsense approach of Mr Jones is attracting National voters to NZ First. It is beyond time the National Party started reading the room. Conservative voters are deserting the comfort of lounging on National couches for the better furniture (policies) of NZ First. This, and the results of the poll, should act as a wake-up call to National. But will it?

Comrade Spike is wedded to woke. No chance
JC interesting read. Ta. The only problem is that its such a small sample size i cant believe it for one minute. However, I'm sure a good chunk of kiwis are probably feeling exactly the same.
The big question is how to vote strategically so you keep the left loonies out!! My party vote is up for grabs at this point in time. Im loving what Shane and Winston are proposing (except bnz) and Seymour et al are trucking along nicely.

As a recently returned kiwi who lived in Oz for 20+ yrs I can tell you that the sample size is very representative of the avg punter.
I keep in regular contact with Oz through my job and through a wide range of media (left and right) and the mood is very much leaning to one nation for every single person who has woken up to the bias of legacy media.
If you’re in any doubt as to what Pauline stands for check out her please explain channel on YouTube - it’s nothing short of brilliant- and utterly correct too.
Without her even trying You start to see how she’s been treated and painted by media over the years - and you also start to see how Seymour has been treated here too.
And trump in the us.
People are well and truly awake en masse now and it’s showing in the ballot box.
The sounds coming from Shane are certainly what many want to hear. However, is he trustworthy, I would say no. Underneath the spin, he will support Iwi well before New Zealand in general.
The sample size is quite adequate PROVIDING the sample is representative. That's always a problem when you are dealing with what are essentially self-selected samples. Also in Aus there is considerable regional variation that would require a stratified sampling approach applying weightings to the various states and territories. The Google AI description of 'snap poll' does not inspire much confidence........
"Relies primarily on online panels or quick automated phone calls"....... oh dear.......
