It's also a violation of one's human rights to be forced to take part in a religious ceremony or ritual.
Participation in an opening prayer in the NZ Parliament has always been optional.
The 'special case' status of Maori religious rites should be challenged in court.

I am part Maori and I cannot bear to think that people assume I believe in all this nonsense. If some part Maori want to, that is up to them but I want no part of it. We are all individuals and should be treated equally in all respects. Please do not speak or think of us as one.

There is not a rational adult in the country who would disagree with you John. Unfortunately NZ seems to have a lot of distinctly irrational adults around, some of them in critical roles in Parliament. The only consolation is that most of them will have to live with the chaos they created.

Not only do these irrational adults not care about what they are destroying, at the same time creating an unequal country, they aren't thinking or caring about the country that their grandchildren and great grandchildren will live in under the thumb of minimal Maori
Please discus a legal challenge with Stephen Franks and the FSU re. the optionality of religious action.
If I have understood things correctly, anyone like anyone who wants to enrol on the Maori roll may do so with no questions asked. If you THINK you are a Maori you can quite happily enrol on the Maori roll. Some years later you can switch to the general roll, and maybe switch back and forth, again no questions asked.
The Electoral Commission website is silent on requirements or qualifications – stating only: “If you are a Maori” and “open to voters who are Maori”. That’s it. Self-identification seems to be the sole requirement.
