In that context, one has to wonder why our former Prime Minister, Dame Jacinda Ardern, has chosen a country other than the one she led for almost two terms in which to settle after her " flash in the pan, meteoric" political career ended so abruptly.
We could be forgiven for thinking that maybe the exposure of her and her bunch of supportive clandestine operatives and the corresponding backlash to their fraudulent time in government would be the main reason why a return to her birthplace is no longer the safe environment it once was.
Because, it only takes a little research of how her government and Jacinda Ardern personally were mistakenly perceived during her tenure in order to understand why the basis for her once stratospheric popularity is now the subject of so much debate.
Well - my guess is that people who promote themselves as the personification of human qualities we all admire but too often struggle to demonstrate when they are most needed, are found out to be someone different than the one suggested by the headline during a national crisis.
I have no doubt that Jacinda's sensitive reaction to the Christchurch massacre of over 50 innocent Muslims was totally genuine and the popularity it engendered was thoroughly deserved but my point is that people who promote themselves as the "full monty" must expect a massive reaction when the total persona is found to be based on a lie.
Having read that, you may well be demanding evidence to back such a dramatic claim.
OK, here goes!
Firstly, and perhaps the most damaging exposure of her government's real agenda was the clandestine attempt to share 50-50 the total control of all our fresh water reserves with Maoridom - an ethnic group that represents no more than 15 - 20 % of the total New Zealand population.
Imagine the uproar if Luxon was contemplating the same trick by offering a similar deal to Federated Farmers. No doubt he would suffer the same consequences as the Hipkins remnants did at the next general election - and rightly so!
That is the price you pay for a betrayal of such magnitude.
The second damning evidence is the use of discredited information during Covid to justify one of the world's most unnecessarily prolonged "lockdowns" when we were led to believe that the country's economic, physical and mental survival was so dependent on its implementation.
In reality, these draconian measures, promoted on the basis of fairness for all, exposed a "mind-set" more in keeping with modern day Marxist theory than the "kindness" and "equality" Ardern and her sycophantic colleagues would have had us believe.
And we are still paying for the economic and socially disruptive mess these totalitarian measures have caused.
No wonder our "Wonder Woman" prefers the relative obscurity of Aussie suburbia than a return to her homeland where her presence would be an everyday reminder of the damage a "Jekyll and Hyde" character can do before being exposed as a dishonest fraud.

The lockdowns worked Mr Bibby. Our extraordinarily low COVID death rate was the envy of the world. By any reasonable standard Adern did the right thing and was justified in relying on the science available at the time.
Making decisions with incomplete information is business as usual for any Government. It's called leadership. In this case the decisions made allowed us to dodge the bullet. And as for the economy, I daresay it would be looking a lot worse today if we had suffered the same level of mortality as say Trump's America where there was a total absence of political leadership. A million dead on his watch. Enough said I think.
It’s rather ironic that for the last decade Clive Bibby has responded to disapproval, no matter how thoughtfully reasonably and genuinely framed, of the leadership of Donald Trump with attributions like ‘Trump hater’ and ‘TDS’, yet he can come up with this attack on Jacinda Ardern. Ardern is yesterday’s woman and you can relitigate her government to your heart’s content. Of course, she got a lot of things wrong, but to be fair, had some crises to contend with. Nevertheless, she was fairly elected by the New Zealand people, on the first occasion insured by Winston Peters throwing his 9 list MPs into the coalition, thereby denying Bill English the opportunity he surely deserved to govern.
Did the Ardern Government over-react with the covid crisis? That we will never know, but it’s history. Let’s leave the Trump’s Republican to pursue their which hunt against Dr Fauci.
You could argue that any forthcoming election is crucial and potentially historic, but I think that this one certainly is, and we have no idea as to how it will turn out after the inevitable coalition negotiations. The world is a trouble place with two seemingly endless wars taking place and in the case of one, world trade and prosperity disrupted, aided by Trump’s politically motivated tariffs. This backward-looking piece, sprinkled with the usual extravagant language, contributes nothing to illuminate the way ahead. While at home we Kiwis have plenty of challenges to deal with as well.

Wouldn’t you think that the latest Fauci exhibition of a possum caught in the headlights would be enough for them to accept they have been backing the wrong horse and making excuses for absolute crooks for far too long.

According to Chat GPT analysis, NZ Covid death rate of 884 per million was almost exactly the same as the world average of 894 per million. Japan logged 597, so NZ wasn’t exactly the “envy of the world” for long.
Good comment, Clive, and anon@12.32 - such calls the Jones Boy BS rightly out. And considering the benefits of our relative isolation, that's a poor outcome - more especially when adding up what it cost.
I think commentators like Clive are right to critique the performance of the 2017 and 2020 Labour-led Governments (of which Jacinda was no more than the mouthpiece in my opinion) but I don't subscribe to the view that she had Machiavellian tendencies. She simply had a massive overdose of empathy which prevented her from standing up to, or even finding fault with, underserving minorities who play the victim card at every opportunity. Clive points to two failings in particular, and he rightly mentions the treachery of the secret implementation of He Puapua. But the real explanation for the excessive lockdowns isn't widely understood or acknowledged - we simply had to wait for those of our fellow citizens with poor or non-existent life-management skills (in which people with Maori DNA are overly represented) to get off their backsides and get vaccinated like the rest of us.
It's so predictable that Mr Bibby approves of the disgraceful treatment of Dr Fauci, a man whose whole career has been spent in the service of the American public. He would be given the highest public honours anywhere else in the world for his work yet is pillaried by the Trump regime for upsetting the Dear Leader. Mr Bibby clearly gets his version of the truth from Truth Social, an organ even George Orwell would have had difficulty imagining.
Anon 12.32 isn't paying attention. The discussion relates to the effectiveness of the lock downs that were implemented to stop the spread of a highly infectious virus with no cure, a high death rate, and no available vaccine to mitigate its effects. No one denies that the death rate increased subsequently but that was AFTER lock down was lifted and a vaccine had been developed. Until then the lock-downs were remarkably effective at keeping people alive - a world beating effort if you review the statistics in question. In short, lock down worked and worked well. Adern had her weaknesses but Trump's inability to follow advice from his public health officials was not one of them. And we are better off as a country as a result.

What if I remind you Mr Bibby that a certain Donald Trump invoked his 5th Amendment right over 400 times during a sworn deposition on 10 August 2022 when his business affairs were under investigation. And he wasn't even facing a Kangaroo Court like Dr Fauci. That must mean, by your standards, Trump had four times as many things to hide as Dr Fauci. And that was before he got up to speed in his second term, which we will undoubtedly find out about very soon when the new Congress impeaches him for a third time after the mid-terms.

Either way, evidence suggests that the Democrats are in the process of signing their own death warrant for the mid terms with the Party’s movement towards “ Loo Loo Leninist” policies.
And because of that obvious trend, apart from deluded people like you and Ewan, one has to wonder how many Americans will vote for them in November and so the opportunity to impeach Trump for a 4th time seems a more remote possibility by the day.

I find it interesting in these comments that those of a left leaning political view are quick to say "lets move on from historic events and look to the future" when uncomfortable historical events and decisions look like getting too close public attention. A pity the same logic is not applied to radical Maori leaders and their sycophants, who want to take us all back to the 'glory days' of pre-colonisation, when Maori had control of everything. Selective memories me thinks.
