Thinking of 1991 and the Kerry Packer quote: "I am not evading tax in any way, shape or form. Now of course I am minimising my tax and if anybody in this country doesn't minimise their tax, they want their heads read because as a government I can tell you you're not spending it that well that we should be donating extra".
It is not the taxing that is the problem, it is more the idiotic way that NZ often spends it! Thinking Treaty claims and other sink hole Iwi grifting. This is what Luxon should have focused on, stopping the senseless waste!
I currently have 2 businesses. One I would like to sell as I edge closer to 60. Im a large tax payer. Im guessing in the top 10%. Im happy to do so as long as the following criteria is met.
- That my hard earned tax payer dollars are not used in any way against me or to harm me or my family.
- that my hard earned tax dollars are spent by competent government departments to better this country and its inhabitants EQUALLY. (Not EQUITABLY)
It seems im asking for too much.
David, can you clarify please: when quoting who makes tax payments, are they net after Working for Family credits and other such benefits etc. If not they are not a true reflection on the actual situation. What happens when a person pays $15,000 in tax but gets back $18,000 in benefits ? Is that quoted as paying $15000 tax or is it quoted as a negative tax payment of (-) $3000 ?

Yes, would be easy to calculate or at least approximate tax paying $ versus return on those tax dollars. If a single person pays $50k in taxes, maybe they get only $20k back via paying for defense, using national health, acc etc. Not sure why the taxpayers union doesn’t have an online tool to do the calculations.
Non 9.49, wake up, It's not Luxon, but the rogue woke ideological govt departments. But, yes, he needs to pull them into line. Who would have thought its that difficult. It just shows how far left entrenched they are.
Anon 5.08PM. It matters not from whence the waste occurs, the buck stops with the man at the top and he has been in post more than 2.5 years, more than enough time to sort out the woke wasters. However, always assuming that to do so he actually recognised the issue and also must have the gumption to do the sorting out! Instead we have a call to have a referendum about MMP when what is needed is a referendum to end the Maori seats/roll. He'll be asking for a referendum to change the flag next!
Yes, our PM has taken lessons from John Key and his flag referendum. Throw a curly proposal into the ring to deflect discussion on the real issues. But he's too late. Voters have his measure by now
