The dishonesty of the left knows no bounds
Everyone has been talking about the interview with Leo Molloy by ‘Comedian’ Guy Williams. It shows Leo Molloy as an out-of-control, mouthy upstart. But it turns out, though, that the interview was in fact a hit job by Guy Williams, and designed to tank support for Leo Molloy. The hit job has backfired spectacularly.
Comedian Guy Williams says his now infamous interview with mayoral candidate Leo Molloy was funny, bizarre and the restaurateur’s response was “very angry”
The host of the satirical programme New Zealand Today said he copped criticism for platforming Molloy, who, in a expletive-ridden interview, hit out at people he deemed “woke” and claimed Auckland had been hampered by a succession of “soft….” mayors.Speaking on TV3’s The Project current affairs show last night, Williams said his show is about doing weird stories around New Zealand and it was his decision to interview Molloy.“I thought it was bizarre that this guy, who is known for being an absolute loose cannon, to put it nicely … was running for Auckland mayor.“I thought it was very funny and thought it was going to end his political career, but I was criticised for platforming. That is when you give a voice, like how Donald Trump came up,” Williams said. The interview created a bit of a storm on social media with people calling out Williams for giving Molloy a 15-minute platform at the expense of other candidates.“I understand that criticism. I think it is fair and I didn’t give his main rivals, Viv Beck and Efeso Collins, a fair chance to speak.“But at the same time I thought it was interesting how a person responds to a comedy interview and in his case it was very angry,“He asked me when I lost my virginity. It was bizarre,” said Williams.NZ Herald
What is bizarre is that Guy Williams thought he could do a hit job and get away with it. But the hit job backfired so spectacularly that the left is now trying to cancel Guy Williams for giving a blow-hard valuable unearned publicity.
Let’s be clear here, Guy Williams is no impartial provocateur. He is a hard-left protagonist, who was shacked up with Green MP Golriz Ghahraman until 2020. This was a hit job designed to tank support for Leo Molloy, and it was likely funded by NZ on Air, who seem to pour cash down the throats of leftie luvvies like Guy Williams.
If anything, NZ on Air should seriously look at the funding of Guy Williams now he has admitted he was deliberately trying to tank Molloy’s campaign.
If Auckland does end up with Leo Molloy as Mayor then we can all thank Guy Williams for that.
If that happens, this will go down as spectacular an own goal as the hit job by Nicky Hager on me that resulted in John Key winning the 2014 election with an increased share of the vote.
