Despite this, Labour and the Greens want to reduce production by taxing methane emitted by livestock.
They say this is to achieve our international commitments to climate change.
But why is the Ministry for the Environment using models that grossly overestimate the effect methane is having on climate?
Why are they using assumptions that have been rejected by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change?
