On Tuesday 15 November 2021, Jacinda Ardern, the former Labour Prime Minister and Ashley Bloomfield, the former Director of Health, caused enormous stress when they ordered every Kiwi to get jabbed with the experimental gene therapy injection or lose their job. Old, young, pregnant mothers, and even those with a high risk of anaphylactic shock or existing heart problems, were not excused. Exemptions were refused by the director of health, even if recommended by a GP. If you are worried, go to the hospital for your jabs and they will have the crash cart ready, Bloomfield callously ordered.
Tears flowed. The country and relationships were torn apart as some got jabbed and others lost everything as they said ‘No’ to the jab. Medically it was too much of a risk. Admirable and widely shared sentiments.
However, as for the politicians responsible, their deeds are seemingly forgotten by the present Coalition and Parliament, Ardern is supported as the new UN Oceania Spokesperson to the COP30 meeting... which suggest her forthcoming tilt for the UN will also get support. The people will not be consulted.... though she concealed the He Puapua document ( on tribal rule by 2040) from them. Memories are shortlived.
She was prepared to destroy NZ to advance her position on the world stage.
History shows COVID management strategy worked Eliora. Thousands of Kiwis are alive today that would otherwise have died. You can replace jobs, livelihoods and even economic well being. You can't replace lives. So remind me of your clinical qualifications that allow you to comment on the efficacy of vaccines. Or is it just the usual antivaxxer's attempt to make a world-wide pandemic all about your personal rights. Rights that are not a lot of use once the virus kills you! Move on Eliora. Your cause is lost. But I'm sure you could still find a lot to complain about elsewhere - I see public health officials are pleading for people to vaccinate against the most contagious virus on earth, the measles virus. What would they know?
A terrible global pandemic for which many nations were completely unprepared and unqualified to navigate. Thank god for the leadership and empathy shown by the Labour Party and especially Jacinda Ardern, NZ came out ahead compared to other nations on pretty much any metric you care to choose. Kia Kaha!
To The Jones Boy: you show your ignorance with every word of your comment. The studies showing that the management strategy worked used models with incorrect assumptions, so were geared to show the result the authors wanted. The vaccines were never tested to stop infection or transmission, and have negative efficacy after a couple of months, meaning you are more likely be infected if vaccinated, and you don't need clinical qualifications to understand. You show that you have been perfectly programmed by what you hear from the media and their experts. The public health experts are not worthy of trust. Take a deeper look, and hod back on the insults.
The strategy worked, all thanks the the scientists and the community they came together. The vaccine was key in slowing the spread, look at the metrics and open your mind! We were so lucky to have the government we did at the time. So sorry to hear some people haven’t bean able to move on with their lives, it was a tough time but the way the people came together should be a sign that we can help the poor lost souls who are stuck in the past. Taking to someone can help.

I'm not going to waste my time arguing with scientific illiterates like Anon 6.09 who wouldn't understand the scientific method if it were rammed down their throats. Suffice to say the vast majority of right-minded New Zealanders are grateful for the skills and talents of all those scientists whose professional experience held off the initial onslaught of COVID, and whose knowledge then developed the vaccines that broke the back of the pandemic. They are the heroes. People like Anon 6.09 are a footnote in history, to be remembered only as losers who didn't even have the grace to thank those who, at worst kept them out of hospital, and at best, kept them alive.

After working in medical science for the last 30 years, and can see you have not bothered learning, otherwise you would not be making such comments. Easier to pretend you're in the school playground and call people names so you don't have to respond to their point of view.
Again you make unfounded comments, there were a dozen effective prevention and early treatment measures, that were never discussed, and still aren't.
Take up my challenge to have a serious look into the vaccines, and you will find there's nothing there.
I would venture to say that at all the pro Adern commentators above were not affected by losing their jobs or businesses during the pandemic. Neither were they affected from being refused access to their dying loved ones. The claim that "thousands of lives were saved" is wholly subjective with no actual proof of the numbers.
It is a known fact that the restrictions were not universal and if you knew the right people, one could bypass the restrictions
