In June 2002 I wrote a comment about the Labour party - "They have to go and never be allowed into power again, you simply could not trust them. Labour has tentacles like an insidious octopus and they have infiltrated every facet of lives - democracy, health, education, media, freedom of speech and local government. Procedures , perhaps via a new constitution, have to be put in place so that no party can ever do this again"
Well - despite all their failures, they did a magnificent hit job on us, they managed to embed their ideology deep into our public sector.
New Zealand is now experiencing:
- a deeply embedded public service ideology
- institutions that resist political change
- a bureaucracy that sees itself as the guardian of the nation’s “correct” values
- a Wellington bubble disconnected from ordinary New Zealanders
- and a government struggling to get traction because the machine underneath it doesn't think there has been an election
- Police scandals - caught with porn on their work laptops.
- Breath-test processes tainted.
- Schools openly rejecting the law of the land.
- The Human Rights Commission acting like an activist club.
- Solicitor-General /Crown Law credibility issues
- The top legal offices losing public confidence.
- Electoral commission pushing Maori Wards
- Local Government Commission embedding Treaty obligations into Codes of Conduct
- The PSA pouring ideology into the education sector like fertiliser, ensuring every teacher, board and principal knows exactly what “position” they’re expected to hold.
Our public service has drifted away from neutrality — the Police, Education sector, HRC, and legal institutions are all behaving as if they answer to themselves, not to the public or to the elected government.
Between 2017 and 2023, many agencies embedded:
- Treaty partnership” frameworks
- DEI policies
- activist language
- progressive ideology
- institutional assumptions on race, identity, and governance
The ideology that took root inside our government institutions over the last decade didn’t just fade away after the election, they "dug in".
It’s now so embedded in our Ministries, Commissions, Tribunals, and public agencies that it behaves like a bureaucratic octopus, with tentacles quietly sliding into every corner of public life. It has been part of a well nurtured plan to carefully shape the public sector’s worldview — and now the ideology runs deeper than the election cycle.
It can be changed but you need a leader stronger than Luxon.
Graeme Spencer is a staunch New Zealander who believes in racial equality and one law for all.

In Britain, the BBC put out a training video on how to address this problem, here:

So true. And the problem is hat none of this creates or enhances prosperity, in fact it simply makes people who want to create positive things, put them in the too hard basket
All true. I think David Seymour and his colleagues could take them on. We do have enough good sense in the present government, but as you say, Luxon can't do it - I do feel sad for the flak he is attracting, but he just hasn't got it in him.
A crucial factor: his ideology is totally different.
Could it be that these woke public services and individuals are convinced that the apathy of NZers and their usual docile acceptance of their environment will permit their objectives to be easily attained without any real opposition ? Do they have a point here?
Sadly, we are going to drift on until we get a strong leader. The leader is the crux of the matter. Probably no-one except Simeon Brown in the present National caucus. Erica is too woke, I don't think Chris "Double- boosted" Bishop has the image. David Seymour has the brains but is probably too opinionated for many. He needs to listen more. Winston always has that "can he be trusted" question about him. No, I'm not suggesting Labour, The Greens or The Maori Party. NZF or ACT are the best options we have.
Dead right, Graeme. And, Barrie, that series of documentaries on Westminster-styled politics, was one of the best ever produced. I agree with you, Janine, but Winston can't be trusted - other than do what's right for Winston.
Excellent comment Janine. I could have written it myself. Just one thing - I agree about Bishop but what does "double boosted mean"?
Over the Years a "certain" element within our Society, many of them well educated, and reside in Bureaucracy (being Govt Depts, Law, Education, Health, Police, Business & NZ MSM) where thru "due diligence" have attained status that has developed to the point, they have "attained" what they want, and those objectives having been put in place are applied daily against those that oppose.
Many have "Socialist" views, which has led them to apply such "dogma" again, against those who oppose.
It is interesting, that in quiet conversation, the words that 'can not be spoken publicly' are stated - those who do speak thus, having to be careful that those 'words' are not reported as being "Hate speech".
A reoccurring feature across The United Kingdom and has happened here in NZ.
Their sexual orientation is the outstanding feature and what I have stated above, can now be seen as having and being applied in NZ Sporting Codes.
If you are confused - "who started the Gender Ideology teaching in NZ schools" (quote from article - 'institutions that resist political change'), for which our [supposed] Minister of Education was to 'stamp out', but it is still occurring.
The same can be said for the implementation of DEI within NZ functioning Business, Sports, Education, Law, Health etc.
A well presented article, a "cry from the heart", which sadly, if heard in Wellington, falls upon deaf ears.
The same "cry' that recently fell upon the Minister of Broadcasting - Paul Goldsmith, re the BSA - his response - "not my problem".
No wonder we continue to lose Kiwi's across the Ditch.
Totally agree with your assessment.
Luxon is threatening to change Local Government bigtime but it will be the wrong changes. ie shifting the deck chairs unless we can get rid of the current ingrained , shiny bums.
Indeed - the only hope to delay ( but perhaps not to stop) the He Puapua agenda. But they cannot do it without much stronger support from the people. The transformation of NZ is all but irreversible.
PS Watch Chris Penk.
To anonymous at 10.56. During the covid years, that was what Chris called himself. He was very pro- jab.Along with Ardern, they were all trying to push a jab that they knew early on was neither safe nor effective. I personally think it's better to take a more measured approach with such decisive issues. To me that denotes there would be many people who wouldn't support him. Along with the "river of filth" guy, and Chris Luxons "There is nothing I like about the Bill".
Simple answer.
Ring fence around greater Wellington.
Declare it the new independent state of Aotearoa, one way passport to get out.
Issue a temporary visitors passport for those passing through t/from the mainland.o
All revenue generated in Aotearoa stays there for their own discretionary spending.
Then let the few still sane buggers left in the rest oif NZ get on with running the show.
We are the size of a small city, globally.
It shouldn't be too difficult.
My specialty is education and I declare much of the socialist / woke / Socialist/ Marxist / influences began in the 40s and 50s with Fraser a Fabian joining up with misguided Beeby and changed our education system from Traditional Liberal education based on traditional , classical and Christian values to those of Progressivism which is based on all anti traditional ,aggressive atheist beliefs.
What has happened is the fundamental basis of education which is literacy , since the 1950s has been declining because of the deliberate ( yes, deliberate ) ineffectiveness of the progressive ideology. Progrssive Marie Clay in the 1970s became a sacred cow in NZ and else where and despite mountains of research showing her new fangled reading method was an infernal failure it persisted for 40 years. Clay actually stated she was more interested in promoting developmental psych. than teaching reading ! The false evolutionary ideology that children learnt to read naturally without any direct instruction. was her highest priority.
Anyway recently the evidence against her progressivist ideas has become so overwhelming we are now going back to the teaching methods content and discipline of traditional Liberal education because they were effective. There was never any good reason for cancelling them out in the past.
Most of academia are pretending this astonishing effectiveness of structured literacy aka old fashioned intensive phonics is a new thing ( the product of progressivism) and deny that they are reinventing the wheel.
However the progressives have had the rug pulled out from beneath them .Their entire paradigm has been shown to be based on sophistry and deception.
You have to feel sorry for them -their world view has crumbled. Like wayward children they are trying distraction and rhetoric to hold onto their ideology. But they stand on sinking sand.
Culture is emergent and some people can’t cope with being left behind. It’s worse now with dog-whistling lifetime politicians says just the right words to get them niiiice ‘n’ scared. Like shooting fish in a barrel!
YES.... eyes on Chris Penk. Saw him as a leader years ago in his first election campaign.
