He's cried wolf three times on his ultimatums.
He's said one thing and then in the next breath said exactly the opposite.
Now he's talking about ending an entire civilisation.
White House officials have described him as being in a 'defiant' mood.
Wars aren't generally won on moods. They're won on strategy and execution.
The gameplan for Iran has been sorely lacking.
Even Nigel Farage says Trump's gone too far with his rhetoric.
Tucker Carlson is calling on the military to disobey Trump's orders. Refuse to carry out his bombing.
The reason this is all for nothing is because Trump could blast Iran's military infrastructure 'till the cows come home and still NOT get every drone, every speed boat, every regime-loving terrorist out there.
And all it takes are a few of them to hold the world to ransom, via the strait.
So Trump ups the anti. He talks tough. He threatens to end civilisation.
And what have the Iranians done? They've cut off diplomatic talks with the US.
Which means we're now in very dangerous territory.
Remember for them to win, or claim they've won, all they have to do is survive to live another day.
Which leaves Trump either ending an entire civilisation, which he won't do because it could end the world, or backing down. Again.
Either way, not a great outcome for a strongman like him.

And what if the objective of the war is different from what it was said to be? Could it be part of America first strategy - disrupt the oil routes until the adversaries’ economy start cracking? Then all starts to make sense, isn’t it?
Some non -MSM balance required here.
No, he is no threatening the "Persian" people. He is threatening the IRGC whom the majority of Iranians loathe. He has already promised to help rebuild a democratic Iran.
China and Russia have vetoed the resolution to open the Strait of Hormuz.
Hundreds more ordinary Iranians are now being executed.
The IRGC is asking civilians to form a human chain around the power plants including children...what the ????
Why not give just up the massive supply of weaponry which is offensive, not defensive. They could have agreed weeks ago.
Notice how these MSM parrots are migrating from their declining audience based platforms to Breaking Views which publish essays that would never be tolerated on their own deceitful public opinion shaping sites.
Noone knows what is happening because that is exactly how it should be and how it is playing out.
Keep your enemy guessing.
Wars are won or lost upon deception.
Anyone who claims they know the "game plan" are delusional.
Many of the comments in this article are inane to say the least.
"The gameplan for Iran has been sorely lacking"
The fact is no-one knows "the game plan" except those who need to know. That's a basic fact of any war.
"Even Nigel Farage says Trump's gone too far with his rhetoric"
Noone cares what Farage thinks especially the "Commander and Chief."
How does this even support the authors argument?
Rhetoric could be a deliberate diversion.
"Tucker Carlson is calling on the military to disobey Trump's orders."
This is the worst - why should anyone in the US military heed the advice of another hack?
Yet the author also presents this as some sort of valid argument?!
I suggest the writer of this article should at least read the "dummy's guide" to "the art of war" before attempting to grandstand.
Otherwise, they only succeed in making themselves appear foolish.
Anon 229pm couldn't agree more. Ryan and others of his ilk don't know the game plan, therefore there is no game plan. Only bona fide cretins could think that way.
Dear Ryan.
Iran - how much do you know about a Country, that since the 'removal' of the Shah, who regrettably did not rule "his" Country in a democratic way - having a police force, that had "sadistic" tendencies, which when the Ayotallah returned (from France) many of the Men, in this organization became the "back bone" of the new - Iranian Republican Guard (IRG) who became even more brutal.
NZ MSM do not seem to report on the "ongoings" within Iran - the latest being the public hanging of 3 x 19 year old males (athletes) who have represented Iran - based on 'trumped up charges'.
Or the activities of the IRG, when it comes to dealing with the Citizens of Iran.
There is a Female, Lawyer, resident of Auckland, former resident of Iran (recently took Helen Clark to task over her comments, on Iran, at a speech, given by Helen, at AUT) - who may give you a better insight into what it was like to live in Iran.
If you want to hear her speak - search the "library" of The Platform - sorry NZME do not like Sean P, do they?
Or did the NZ Herald give "credence" to Helen over her speech and ignore the "reality check" from a person who knows (more than Helen)??
Also keep in mind, that The Leaders of Iran, The Govt have "thumb their noses at the UN" and any Diplomatic approaches on many issues, which has longevity, nor resolved under these approaches.
Oh and Ryan, it is the Males who dominate, the females are subjugated and only appear & speak "when told to do so".
Yup - we are 'fed bullshit & carrots' when it comes to International News and when an International incident occurs - we have many in the NZMSM who "suddenly" have a view.
Strange that.
The shipping lane is back to gore it was a month ago, but only temporarily. US soldiers are dead. Billions of dollars wasted on munitions. No regime change. No change in Iran possessing nuclear weapons. Truly the art of the deal!
