JC: Media Have Got Their Man

The media in this country are a disgrace. There is nothing remotely professional in how they go about their business in respect of political coverage. They portray an unrelenting left-wing bias pure and simple. They might have the effrontery to tell us they are objective, but that is a falsehood and it is obvious to anyone with a masochistic streak driving them to sit through the six o’clock news hour that it is not the case. What emanates from the radio newsrooms is no better and a lot of what is written in the papers is nothing short of embarrassing.

The media have been doing their best to discredit Christopher Luxon from day one of his leadership. He has been hounded at every turn, while, at the same time, the media have made it obvious that they have installed the Opportunity Party as their new darlings. Those far-left lunatics are naïve and if they got anywhere near power they would destroy the country.

That doesn’t matter to a media bent on doing their utmost to get a left-wing government installed. These bunch of half-witted journalists are not there to objectively report on anything to do with politics, e.g., what effect the policies of different parties might have on the country, how qualified a person is, who is best suited for ministerial positions and what portfolios they should have. We don’t get that, because that is called investigative journalism, otherwise known as hard work.

Bias is an easier and more beneficial way to get your personal preferences into the public domain. This is exactly why National is in the mess it is. The mess is not entirely due to the media, some of it is of their own making, but the media have certainly played a big part. They have been aided and abetted by the fact that Luxon is not a media person. His persona does not exude confidence and he tends to treat them with kid gloves. Perception goes a long way towards how a person is regarded.

The National Party has been sucked in by the media nonsense. They should have recognised the game for what it is – a deliberate attempt to destroy the coalition government going into an election. The fact that the rabble they want running the country, led by individuals who portray all the attributes of a weasel, would be injurious to its economic health is of no concern to them. Like their political heroes, most media have little understanding of economics.

National should be taking the gloves off and adopting a far more aggressive approach to these biased numpties. They need to employ some of the abrasiveness that Peters does. He treats them for the fools they are. National fell for the media discourse when they should have tackled it head on.

Luxon and the party have let the media enjoy pretty much a free rein rather than being more forthright with them. They need to recognise that the media’s only interest is to manipulate enough voters to ensure they are booted out of office.

Their man has survived but the media will believe they have severely wounded him. His performance between now and the election will prove it one way or the other. Whatever happens, don’t for a moment think that those masquerading as journalists have given up. They will still be intent on going in for the kill. My message to National is to wake up and watch out.

Jc perfectly written. Treat the far left media idiots how they treat the center right parties. WITH NO RESPECT AT ALL. A lesson from Peter's and Trump is in order. Single them out, one by one. Call them a disgrace on live TV. Tell the far left (media) they are racist, stupid , biased, lazy and dumb. Doesn't hurt to tell the truth. Then on live TV tell them they are being defunded. Gosh, we are far too nice to these far left violent radicals.

The mainstream media is in the hands of the far left? Oh, come on. Sure, there are plenty of woke liberals in these institutions, but they are more than counterbalanced by right wing types, such as Mike Hosking and Heather du Plessis-Allan who command the airwaves from the country’s biggest radio station. The country’s largest newspaper , The New Zealand Herald, regularly turns its opinion columns over to spokespersons for pro-business think tanks like the NewZealand Initiative, but never, say, to a leading trade unionist.

The problem with calling out these biased so called " journalists " is they will edit the callout , and totally, and deliberately misrepresent what was said.
They can't be seen for what they are, and they control the editing facilities.

Recently I listened to a talk given by ex-Dominion Post editor, Anna Fifield. She comments on many fronts, including electronic media and the Listener. She was sacked, with many others from The Washington Post. Her talk was full of left wing views: anti-Trump, anti-Israel, anti-Seymour and anti-mining in NZ, yet fulsome praise for Chinese mining and crowing how many Chinese electric vehicles are now on NZ roads. She had visited China many times and also a number of times to North Korea where she wrote a laudatory piece on the leader of that be-knighted country. If those actions and words don't shout: 'Marxist stooge' I don't what does, and now she is spreading her leftist views as widely as possible on NZ media. Is it any wonder the media has lost trust?
