Sir Bob Jones: The Chief Ombudsman

Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier having reached the compulsory retirement age of 72 and formally retired as he’s obliged to do, has now been asked by the government to carry on in the interim, which he’s delighted to do.

Being an Ombudsman can be a contentious role, as we’ve seen from time to time with the banking and insurance Ombudsmen’s verdicts. But to the best of my knowledge, not a single Boshier verdict has ever been contentious, despite his wide-spanning brief.

Furthermore, he’s a fitness fanatic, working out daily in the gym and I’d venture he’s in far better shape than the average 50 year old, indeed probably most 40 year olds.

I’m almost 85 and feel like I’m just warming up. I’ve not got enough time in the day to do all the things I want to do, including a pile-up of books to be read, a political book and three novellas, their plots in my head, I want to write, places to visit for diverse reasons, tennis, golf and other sports I like playing and so on.

Plus (I nearly forgot) I also head a large 30 plus management staffed multi-billion dollars international commercial property-owning business. I’m shortly nipping over to Scotland to personally correct the architect’s invariable design blunders in our latest acquired office building we’ve just added to the port-folio there.

In short, while compulsory retirement ages are important with public positions, particularly the judiciary, they should allow for flexibility as Peter Boshier proves, he being still as good as ever.

And so too in the private sector. Some people are mentally and physically “old” at 40; others are jumping out of their skin still at 80.

Sir Bob Jones is a renowned author, columnist , property investor, and former politician, who blogs at No Punches Pulled HERE - where this article was sourced.

Is this post really about Peter Boshier, or is it actually about Bob Jones taking the opportunity to pleasure himself in a public place?

Surely Clairly at 10.44 am , as a society we need to celebrate the success and energy and pride of all of the Boshiers and Bob Jones in our country and be pleased to see such people proclaim their success.

Surely we should encourage and share the joy of those who succeed, shouldn't we . Why not ?

Do you think we have enough success in this country already ?

Bob, don't listen to ic clairly, they are a leftie who' s clearly jealous of your success and would love to take every last cent off you to waste frivolously like only the wasteful loonies can.

All I can say is good on you and Peter for showing up half your age.

Keep posting mate knowing it drives the left woke loonies mad and knowing they don't have the cognitive ability to overcome their situation.

IC, as one myself, it is about oldies in general. Most at 80 odd are in decline as the American presidential candidates. Where there is no age limit, easing them out can be very difficult. Many of Boshier's findings seemed to be idealistic and easy for one far removed.

You'd think you aging Boomers would be able to sense and take a joke. I'm sure Bob would appreciate my irreverence, so there's little need to step in and defend his honour.

Hey Bob, bugger what the other comments are about - I have a question - "Do you need someone to carry & mind your bags on your trip to Scotland"??
