Cam Slater: It’s Time to Make Changes

Late yesterday afternoon we heard that the deals are done and the various parties are now informing their boards and caucuses, ahead of an announcement and signing ceremony later on today.

The leaders of National, ACT and NZ First have issued a joint statement, confirming their plan to seal the coalition deal tomorrow.

“Negotiations to form a government that will deliver for all New Zealanders have concluded,” the joint statement says.

“The parties are now going through their respective party processes for final sign-off and we expect that process to be completed this evening.

“Subject to agreement by all parties, a signing ceremony will take place tomorrow at Parliament.”

National leader Christopher Luxon is expected to speak to reporters at Parliament at 4:45pm. We will live stream the press stand up.

Let’s hope that the various parties have listened to the voters and are going to make meaningful changes to undo much of the damage caused by the last Government.

The Media Party will no doubt begin their assault on our new NZ Government from the get-go. They are part of the problem, not the solution.

There is much to do and the new Government really needs to hit the ground running.

But the reality is most people simply don’t care and just want action. Let’s hope that the agreements signal the important changes that are needed.
