At the time of writing, Donald Trump has been called the winner of the US Presidential election although by how much is as yet undecided. The final count may not be announced for another day or so.
Whatever - we know enough now from the votes that have
been counted to surmise that the final vote will look like a landslide with
Trump doing what no Republican candidate has done for decades - win the popular
vote by a sizeable margin.
We can read a number of things from this incredible victory.
The first must be to give most of the credit to a man who
has been vilified (some from his own party say justifiably) by all and sundry
as a destroyer of democracy, a convicted felon and amongst other things an
inciter of an insurrection - an enemy of the state!
Thankfully, a majority of American voters has looked
beyond that grotesque impression promoted by those with Trump derangement
syndrome and found a man prepared to fight on their behalf for a return to the
good times they enjoyed when he was in office four years ago.
For his part, given the decisive nature of his victory,
Trump can afford to be magnanimous.
There is no need for recriminations of those who have
relentlessly pursued him ever since he entered the political arena - by trying
to destroy something they saw as a real threat to their own survival. It has
been an exercise in hatred never seen since the Klu Klux clan went on a rampage
of murder in the Deep South and this time they almost succeeded.
But that was yesterday and now is a time to reset the
history books It is a great opportunity to show that Trump recognises he is now
in a position to make American great again for all its inhabitants - not just
those who have voted overwhelmingly for him.
I personally believe we will see a new side of Trump
during this term.
He has achieved all he needed to do to silence his
critics - he has beaten the odds like no other in US political history. That in
itself is a legacy second to none.
His job now is to heal a nation deliberately divided by
those who have opposed his every move.
Now that the people have spoken so emphatically, the
world is his oyster.
It will be fascinating to watch what he makes of the
opportunity.
It will be an interesting and hopefully enjoyable ride.
And boy, do we need it.

Such great sentiments. I believe so too.
"I personally believe we will see a new side of Trump during this term"
Is that because he announced last night his Presidency will be very simple? He said he will keep his promises. Well that would certainly be a new side to him (did that wall he promised last time ever get built?) but hardly one to fill us with hope and joy.
"It will be fascinating to watch what he makes of the opportunity""
That's easy. He will make money. Lots and lots of money. And his family will make money too. .Nothing new about that side of Donald Trump.
"His job now is to heal a nation deliberately divided by those who have opposed his every move".
Oh come on Clive. Turn off the violins. Trump is the divider-in-chief. If healing involves bringing people together, how does retribution fit into that game-plan? He's big on retribution remember. He promised it as a key part of his campaign and he says he will keep his promises. Yep, that will certainly hurry up the healing.
But you are right on one point. It will be an interesting ride. But the most interesting part will be when they try to get him to leave in four years time.
Howdy Phantom ( given your pathetic comment, it is understandable why you hide behind this cloak of anonymity)
Whatever, that is your choice but your false accusations deserve a reply made up of facts .
1) The wall would have been completed had he had the support of congress instead of having to fund it out by executive order from the defence budget. But the greatest obstruction to that commitment came with the Biden administration, on taking office, removal of large parts of the wall exposing the border to the millions of illegal immigrants from Mexico. Had they not done so, then maybe to border patrols would have been able to limit the numbers but because their efforts were deliberately sabotaged by hypocritical Government policy of open borders - they failed to cope.
How’s that for a lady charged with securing the border?
You can be assured that the wall will be completed asap as a top priority of this administration.
2) I have no talent playing musical instruments and so it is non-sensical to suggest l am anything more than a “facts based” supporter of the former President .
3) My opinion is that the only way to judge the credibility of any politician is to base your decision on track record carrying out their duties in the highest position of authority prior to this contest. In that context, Trump is a known quantity - so too was Harris and therefore it was no surprise to see Trump triumph over her in a such a resounding way when their respective records were compared by voters. It was no contest.
End of story.
