DTNZ: Legacy media death spiral - CNN’s viewership plummets to new lows

Leftist legacy media outlet CNN has seen its viewership numbers sink faster than a lead balloon since Donald Trump’s triumphant return to the electoral scene in November.

According to Nielsen Media Research, CNN’s prime-time viewership has plummeted by a huge 45%, now only managing to captivate a paltry 394,000 viewers.

The network’s performance in the coveted 25-54 demographic is nothing short of catastrophic, with a 52% decline to just 77,000 viewers.

One anonymous journalist told The Washington Post that CNN “didn’t meet the mark” in its coverage of Trump’s campaign. The network’s anti-Trump narrative didn’t “resonate” with an audience tired of legacy media’s misinformation.

Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s campaign spokesperson, wasn’t shy about throwing shade, describing CNN as offering a “hostile environment” to the Republican candidate.

CNN’s corporate owner Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly preparing for significant layoffs. The company has a debt mountain of $45.3 billion as of the end of Q3 2023, according to Forbes.

Fellow legacy media outlet MSNBC has also seen its audience shrink by 46% compared to the first ten months of 2024, with many predicting the “liberal media” bubble is about to burst, leaving networks scrambling to find an audience that simply isn’t there anymore.

CNN has a loyal ''lib'' following in NZ. I note the local library has CNN and BBC only. Others got ''cancelled'' years ago after ''public complaints'' about bias and ''right wing''.
