What happens when the messaging does not match reality?
It may take a generation to get over this, such is the deception over what is a life and death issue.
The Medical Council of New Zealand would not listen to Richard Aston. Led by Dr Curtis, the council talked about the Pfizer jabs being of ‘zero-risk’ to the public. They chose not to read the open letters sent to them by the NZDSOS doctors, which were well-informed attempts to present the truth.
Richard Aston, one of the council members, raised fears in an affidavit about their delusional ‘zero risk’ stance and their aggressive action against any doctor who spoke up with similar alarm. Mr Aston was unfairly asked to leave his position on the council. He knew any medical intervention or pharmaceutical product is not without its risk. That reality is obvious. It’s absurd for the Medical Council to state the Pfizer jabs are ‘zero risk’.
The Medical Council was in lockstep with the ‘safe and effective’ mantra by Jacinda Ardern and Ashleigh Bloomfield. The amount of money spent for the Unite Against Covid-19 campaign and the vaccine campaign was huge. An OIA request was sent in 2022 to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, wanting to know the actual advertising cost of these public information campaigns. They reported, even then, an eye-watering total of $87,657,993 of taxpayers’ money was spent on promoting the Pfizer jabs. The New York Post on 23 October ’24 reveals the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) spent $911m of taxpayers’ money on a massive Covid-19 vaccine promotion campaign by the Fors Marsh Group. Now, according to a damning report, the advertising lied about masking, vaccines and boosters – and ‘consistently overstated’ the risk of the virus to children. Without any reliable evidence, the NZ public were told constantly the Pfizer jab was safe and highly effective against transmission. The flawed messaging has had a psychological impact as it sowed intense suspicion and doubt about anything said from then on.
Dr Bhattacharya summed up the profound effect of accumulative lies:
Censored epidemiologist Dr J Bhattacharya wrote on X, “Ultimately, since the messaging did not match reality, the campaign collapsed public trust in public health.”
Catching someone out telling a lie, whoever they are, erodes trust. They can try it once, even twice, but, if it becomes habitual, it changes the relationship. Previously you automatically believed that person – now you begin looking for the lies. Trust in a politician is the lowest when the lies benefitted the person and not the country. During the Covid 19 era of extensive and rampant dishonesty, Ardern and Bloomfield seemed to dupe the public for personal gain, putting themselves in good standing and garnering approval for their future international careers. They are hailed as saviours. There is political spin but there is also political deception.
In times of war, such as in the 1930s and 40s, communities united. The war effort was a co-ordinated mobilisation of society’s resources, both industrial and civilian. Even when experiencing intense suffering, economic crisis, grief and loss, shortages and disruption, people joined together.
The threat of a global highly contagious virus really frightened people. Instead of Ardern calling the country to unite and look out for each other, New Zealanders were told not to even speak to others, even if you saw a neighbour at the supermarket. Her public messaging on the TV was the extreme opposite to what was needed for good public health.
The messaging UNITE AGAINST COVID-19 became abhorrent and many switched off and became angry or depressed as they lost their connections with others.
There is little trust in doctors now and they know it. ‘New Zealand, we have a problem’, echoes the famous line, ‘Houston, we have a problem’, when the Apollo 13 crew and Mission Control faced an explosion that threatened their mission to the Moon. New Zealand doctors face a huge explosion of patient cynicism and it’s on their hands. The doctors are endeavouring to rebuild trust but such was the deception it is likely going to take a new generation. For doctors to betray their patients so seriously, when they thought they might die, is unfathomable and incomprehensible. Even unpardonable.
The Covid-19 messaging was false. There is no confidence that the jab is safe: it does not have ‘zero risk’ and it is cruelly manipulative to say it is ‘effective’. We are now seeing worrying adverse health effects among our family and friends, to not only have increasingly bad bouts of Covid-19, but shockingly to drop dead, succumb to turbo cancers, develop heart conditions at very young ages, develop rapid-onset dementia and other cognitive problems. Of course we remain highly suspicious of doctors…except those with integrity who questioned the mantra and got punished for saying so.
The messaging was so off the truth, it is having dire long-term consequences with the patient-doctor relationship. We simply don’t trust them anymore in most areas of medicine.
