They’ve been busy, in Transport Minister Simeon Brown’s Beehive office.
The latest batch of ministerial statements included his announcement that a new 110km/h speed limit for the Kāpiti Expressway Road of National Significance (RoNS) has been approved to reduce travel times for Kiwis travelling in and out of Wellington.

Point of Order’s Beehive monitors have been reminded of something Trade Minister Todd McClay said a few months ago about Canada’s disinclination to stick to the deal it struck when it signed the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
This resulted in our taking action under CPTPP trade rules to resolve their wrangling over our efforts to ship more dairy products to Canada.

The announcement about renewed oil and gas exploration from Resources Minister Shane Jones – one of three new posts on the government’s official website – is the most likely to generate political rancour.
Tempers are unlikely to be enflamed by news that people who were displaced by severe weather events in 2022 and 2023 will be supported by the extension of Temporary Accommodation Assistance through to 30 June 2025.
