David Farrar: Mandatory prayers for native trees!

So the solar farm operator has to arrange mandatory prayers for any native trees they remove, to provide solar power to 7,500 homes.

On the assumption that this is mandated because native trees have souls, and you need to pray for the tree souls as they are felled, why is this not extended to exotic trees also? Do immigrant trees not also have souls?

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders

I don't think the assumption - that native trees need prayers because they have souls - is correct. The truth is that native trees need prayers because a bunch of Maoris want to extort money, and their claim for prayers over introduced plants sounds more ridiculous than their claim for native plants.

How does Tremain resist these situations? If we still had NZ TV comedy as "A Week of It" many maori absurd excesses would be recognised and countered.

All ethnicity in any form needs to be removed from all NZ legislation. We will just throw endless taxpayer funds into the ethnicity sewer without any definitive result .PM Luxon could be in the same class.
