I was alerted to this particular madness by the wonderful Katrina Biggs on X, who posted the flyer for the council’s “Women’s Swimming Sessions.” I didn’t believe it at first. Surely this was satire. So I went to the official Christchurch City Council website to check. It gets worse.
Here is what they actually say:
“Women’s swimming sessions provide an environment for all women and girls to feel good and enjoy themselves in the water. The entire pool area has windows covered for privacy and only women staff poolside. This provides a friendly, safe, and secure space for women.”
Sounds reasonable so far. Then comes the punchline:
“All women, girls, and boys (up to and including the age of five), can enjoy these weekly sessions at Matatiki Hornby Centre and Te Pou Toetoe Linwood Pool in a safe and private pool space. Transgender women, and people who identify as being a woman, are welcome.”
Let that sink in.
A six-year-old boy is banned. Too dangerous. Too male. But a grown biological male in a bikini, some lipstick, and a declaration that he “identifies as a woman”? Come right on in. The council has rolled out the red carpet.
This is not compassion. This is institutional insanity.
Christchurch City Council has created a policy that excludes little boys on the basis of their sex while explicitly welcoming adult men who claim to be women. They have declared that the privacy, dignity and safety of women and girls matters — except when it conflicts with gender ideology. Then biology is thrown overboard and common sense is drowned in the shallow end.
The sheer stupidity is breathtaking. A six-year-old boy is apparently a threat to women’s privacy, but a 45-year-old man with male anatomy prancing about as a woman is not. This is the logical endpoint of the nonsense we’ve been tolerating for years. When you abandon biological reality, you end up with councils writing rules that protect feelings at the expense of actual women and girls.
Local government was never meant to be the enforcement arm of radical gender theory. It was meant to fix the roads, empty the bins, and run the pools without turning them into ideological battlegrounds. Instead, Christchurch ratepayers are funding this grotesque farce.
The people responsible for this policy have lost the plot. They should be ashamed. Every councillor who voted for or tolerated this should be asked one simple question: would you be comfortable with your wife, daughter or mother sharing that private space with any man who says he is a woman?
This is not kindness. It is madness. And it is time for Christchurch residents to demand their council stops indulging it. Biological reality is not bigotry. Women’s single-sex spaces exist for a reason. Pretending otherwise doesn’t make you progressive — it makes you a fool.
And Katrina says Christchurch City Council is not the only council that can't tell what a woman is.

Guys you have to remember that councils and often politics are filled with far left idiots who are often lifes failures, so they move into councils and politics where there are no competence barriers to entry. They are then free to wreck havoc with their woke stupidity....just like this policy. What cantabrians should do is get a whole lot of men dressed as women and turn up to make a point. And keep turning up until the woke far left loonies at chch council try to figure out what's wrong with their flawed stupidity.
A simple competency and psyche test would rid councils of their inherited toxicity and stupidity. The fact that this dumb policy has got this far tells us everything we need to know about this council - that the woke far left idiots are in control.
I have said this for years that the local council model is totally broken and doesn’t work if it ever worked in the first place. Talentless people are selected by their respective community boards as councillors to oversea the spending of billions of our dollars. These people are free to promote their own wacky political agendas instead of focusing on things that really matter to the Christchurch ratepayers needs. Rodney’s justifiable criticism is a great example of what can happen when the crazies are given license to exercise their politically woke agendas. The tragedy is nothing is going to change. New Zealand breeds unimaginative politicians with a steady as she goes attitude as they helm this ship into a watery grave.
Given the trans rights thing is a made up cause, that is not there for what it says on the tin, but to fund anarchist causes and generate plenty of money, it's only logical that when applied in real life situations, the madness of it makes no sense.
The trans rights cause is an unanswerable insane riddle that is not meant to be solved, otherwise it's potential fiscal output will cease. It's been picked up by unemployable bureaucrats in councils and government departments the western world over. It has no place in the live or die real world.
The cure is councils to cease funding anything this cause grift from by disestablishing its involvement in public swimming pools, libraries etc, and a full rewrite of the Local Government Act.
But I'm just so glad they've inserted te reo names over the original English names of these pools. How reassuring the CCC is focused on important things. Not.
Are the names of the people creating this policy publicly available ?
They should be named and shamed.
Perhaps if the identies of such people were in headlines, they might refrain from making fools of themselves.
To bring this councils crazy policy into the spotlight, what should happen is a bunch of blokes, err, i mean trannys need to turn up with wigs, and lipstick. They also need to bring along a 6 yo boy. They need to call the cops and demand that the 6yo is arrested/ removed from their safe space. They then need to get the idiot councilors who produced this lunacy and have this 6yo boy ' banned' from everything and acting as a menace. The left msm need to be involved, but they will try and hide this disaster the best they can. The bizarre thing is that only the left will agree with me and still won't understand what wrong.
My concern is for 5 year old girls, confronted by the sight of male genitalia in the changing rooms . I have assumed the changing rooms are bisexual , trans sexual or whatever the woke term is. I can't keep up.
Anon 1226, a man posturing as a woman is going to call himself a woman and use women's changing rooms. He may call himself a 'transsexual woman' but he certainly won't call himself bisexual as a bisexual may be male or female.

Now back to the woke chch council. A lot of men don't feel 'safe' either. We want men's swim sessions where the windows are covered, no females allowed and only male staff on for those hours also.
Fairs fair. Let's try and waste more ratepayers money on dumb stuff, clearly the chch council are happy to do so.
Surely, the lunatics are now in charge of the asylum. A couple of things are obvious; the voters will always get the govt they deserve; and the whole system is now so compromised that correction appears to be impossible. If we don’t tear down this rotten, corrupt system and replace it with a rational fit-for-purpose structure it will eventually collapse on our own heads.
That’s exactly right Anonymous 4.06pm. The council model is broken and no longer works. Elections don’t change anything but only encourages them. That’s why only 35 percent of the population bothers to vote because they know nothing will change. The minister for local govt, Simon Watts, is Luxon’s official climate alarmist and therefore highly unlikely to bring about positive change.
I wonder what the CCC test is for men who identify as a woman. Do they have to sit an exam before passing?
