David Wojick: UN Green Climate Fund emission reduction claims are fraudulent
Labels: David Wojick, Fraudulent, Green Climate Fund (GFD), United Nations (UN)A database of Green Climate Fund (GFD) “projects” reveals that almost none are actual projects. Most are just specialized junior funds. Each has a supposed emission reduction number, but these are just fantasy guesses since no actual projects are involved. Thus, the GCF emission reduction claims are fraudulent.
The database is here.
(I might never have found it since it is in the voluminous UNFCCC site not the GCF site, but AI found it immediately when I simply asked for “GCF projects.” This is a good example of how AI can improve research.)

David Wojick: The UN Green Climate Fund is a wasteful fraud
Labels: David Wojick, Green Climate Fund (GCF)The UN Green Climate Fund (GCF) is neither Green nor about climate. They are mostly just doing normal foreign aid that the donor countries would be better off doing themselves. They have received and spent over $20 billion to date, with more billions coming.
For example, they fund a lot of water supply systems in dry countries. They call it “climate change adaptation,” but it is not adaptation to climate change. It is addressing a condition that has always existed. It is fraud to call this “climate funding.” The same is true for flood protection in flood-prone areas or improving existing farms, which they also do a lot of.

David Wojick: AI may bring a cognitive renaissance to human thinking
Labels: Artificial intelligence (AI), David WojickBy “AI” I mean the amazing chatbots that emulate reading and reasoning. There is a lot more to AI but that is how the term is being used these days.
There are a couple of reasons why these powerful AI tools may greatly improve human thinking. Simply put they can save a lot of search time and they find better stuff. This gives people more time to think and better information to think with.

David Wojick: AI could take your computer from search to research
Labels: Artificial intelligence (AI), David Wojick, Growth in electricity use, PC search and researchThe news is full of predictions of explosive growth in electricity use because of AI. I wondered what all this AI was going to be used for, but then it hit me. AI could take our personal computers from search to research. I realize this is futuristic, so please read it that way.
The basic idea is very simple. Right now, when you want to know about something, you start by doing a search. You get a bunch of snippets and links to likely documents. So you go to the best-looking ones and read. If your question is fairly broad you might read quite a bit by way of piecing together an answer. Your computer does the search then you do the research.

David Wojick: The Green New Deal could make electricity 28 times more expensive
Labels: David Wojick, EnergyBelow, I show how the Green New Deal can cause the average household electricity bill to go up a crushing $52,500. The reason is simple. Wind and solar require a lot of battery backup, and we use a tremendous amount of electricity, so the cost of all these batteries is many trillions of dollars.

David Wojick: We teach kids only half the scientific method
Labels: David Wojick, Education, Next Generation Science Standards, Science education classesThe vigilant folks at the CO2 Coalition have been saying we are no longer teaching the scientific method in public school science education classes. This puzzled me because the new rules for science education claim to teach kids to think like scientists. I figured the kids would be awash with scientific method.
I was wrong. With the help of some Coalition experts, I investigated this strange situation and here are my basic findings.
