Brendan O'Neill: Gaza: the most lied about war in history

Finally, on the third anniversary of 7 October, the left’s empire of falsehoods against Israel is starting to crumble.

What would you call a country that is experiencing one of the highest levels of population growth on Earth? How would you describe a country where the child malnutrition levels are similar to those of that industrial powerhouse of Europe, Germany? What would you say about a nation that was in receipt of so much food aid that at one stage around 3,163 calories were available per person, per day? I’ll tell you what you couldn’t say: that that country is suffering one of the most demonic genocides in history. That its people are being forcibly starved. That its pain finds no parallel in the annals of human wickedness.

Melanie Phillips: A tsunami of lies

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani should be held to account for libellous incitement against Israel and the Jews

We are being overwhelmed by a global tsunami of lies.

Flanked by US and New York City flags, the mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, packed so many lies about Israel into a videoed two-minute hate that he sounded like the late Hassan Nasrallah on double speed.

Professor Robert MacCulloch: The RBNZ's November 2024 "Monetary Policy Statement" is one Big Fat Pack of Lies.

In the Introduction to its November Monetary Policy Statement, the Reserve Bank states, "Economic activity in NZ remains subdued" and then just a few lines later on, "Global economic growth is expected to remain subdued". The same words, "remain subdued", are used to describe both how NZ is doing and the rest of the world. Its for a reason. The RBNZ is saying "Dont blame us for engineering three recessions - everyone is doing it hard". Are they?

Daily Telegraph NZ: Erasing an orchestrated litany of lies

Many people, especially ignorant people, want to punish you for speaking the truth, for being correct, for being you. Never apologize for being correct, or for being years ahead of your time. If you’re right and you know it, speak your mind. Speak your mind. Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is still the truth. — Mahatma Gandhi

The phrase, An Orchestrated Litany of Lies, was originally penned by Justice Mahon. He wrote them in a summary of his findings on a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the tragic Air New Zealand plane crash on Mount Erebus, on 28 November 1978. There were no survivors. All 257 people onboard were killed instantly in the greatest air disaster that had ever occurred in the world at that time. It devastated New Zealand and still leaves a scar upon the Nation — etched deeply into our consciousness.

Janet Wilson: Politicians and the dark art of misinformation

“No one has ever doubted that truth and politics are on rather bad terms with each other, and no one as far as I know, has ever counted truthfulness among the political virtues,” the political theorist Hannah Arendt wrote in a seminal 1967 essay in The New Yorker. “Lies have always been regarded as necessary and justifiable tools not only of the politician’s or the demagogue’s but also of the statesman’s trade. Why is that so?”

That startling truth seems prescient now in an age where social media and Artificial Intelligence can turbo-charge political lies, sending them around the world in nanoseconds.

Cam Slater: Open and Transparent? Not So Much

Jacinda Ardern claimed that her Labour Government would be the most open and transparent government ever. That was the slogan; reality turned out to be nothing less than an orchestrated litany of lies, cover ups and flannel. They had zero commitment to openness and transparency, and total commitment to deceiving the public

The latest example is the cover-up and lies over Three Waters’ entrenchment. Remember they claimed at the time it was all just a horrible mistake and they were fixing it?

Denis Hall: The Treaty farce

As I lay here in bed this morning trying to make sense in my head of the conundrum that this Treaty farce has all been turned into by despicable government functionaries - who have simply heaped one lie upon another to completely subvert the intentions of the people who lined up in their hundreds to sign the thing - I am almost in despair - but I have to fall back on the simple thing of it.

I have read it over and over - and the Treaty of Waitangi is a simple document - with simple and obvious and straight forward intentions. It emerged out of thirty years of appalling Maori on Maori bloodshed - and Maori on Maori violence with Muskets that touched every Tribe (See Musket Wars) when they slaughtered 20% of their own population - and the Chiefs who instigated the William Yate letter to set the treaty in motion - were the Maori Statesmen of the time to have done that. We should all know their names.

(See and read the William Yate Letter on Google.)

Cam Slater: Tell Me Lies, Tell Me Sweet Little Lies

Ardern chaired caucus meeting that discussed entrenchment

Jacinda Ardern has been caught, yet again, telling lies. She’s now constantly telling us lies, sweet little lies. There is no other way to describe it other than lying. How else can this not be lies?

Cam Slater: How Did We Get from Never Telling Lies to Lying Constantly?

Remember the 2017 election when Patrick Gower asked, “Is it possible to survive in politics without lying?” Jacinda Ardern put on a huge, sincere, toothy grin and announced, “I believe that it is possible to exist in politics without lying and by telling the truth,” and went on to assure Gower that she’d “never told a lie in politics”. Which, of course, was a big fat lie. The problem is that Ardern almost certainly believes that bull dust.

John Robinson: Where are we going? This is our country, our future to decide

We, the living, are not ruled from beyond the grave by those who lived before us in different times. It is for us to decide our way of life, our culture, our government, our laws.

Let go the shackles of the past

The Treaty of Waitangi was set down, agreed upon and signed in 1840, now (in 2022) 182 years in the past. In the last half-century, the text has been argued over, translated to and fro between English and Maori multiple times with massive changes in the meaning of many Maori words — such as taonga going from property taken at the point of a spear [Hongi Hika: tao, a spear] to “treasures” [Kawharu]), and given newly introduced add-ons (such as “partnership” and “principles”) so there are many and contradictory versions of what was meant and what should guide us today.

Cam Slater: Did Winston Just Give You a Reason to Vote for Him?

So, he finally did it; something he has done in no election since MMP began. He finally said that for which many of you have been crying out for decades. He’s finally given you a reason to vote for him. He’s explicitly said, in no uncertain terms, that he will not work with the Labour Party after the next election.

Cam Slater: Misleading Is the Nice Word for Lying

Jacinda Ardern famously said during the 2017 election campaign that she believed that a person could have a career in politics without telling lies. That was, of course, a lie. It was a lie then and it’s a lie now. Since then she’s lied and lied and lied. She has been busted lying again, which the paid shills and propagandists in the New Zealand media coyly call “misleading”, when they really should have said lying.

Denis Hall: A crime against our culture and language

It is in fact - a crime against humanity and culture to deliberately set out to use the instruments of government to modify a culture and its language against the will of the people - and forcibly introduce words of another language into it - and it is a crime against your children’s future for you to allow it.

It has always been expected - throughout our history as New Zealand - that when a government had enough seats to govern alone - that they would exercise restraint - and show at least a little consideration and respect for the views of those that lost this time - but would likely win next time.

Governments - both left and right - always tried to strike a balance.

Those days are gone.

Cam Slater: 70% of NZ’s Covid Deaths were Boosted

Jacinda Ardern famously stated that if you were vaccinated and boosted, “You won’t get sick, and you won’t die.” She also said that Covid was a disease of the unvaccinated and the virus was literally hunting them down. But the latest figures from the Ministry of Health show that neither of those statements was even remotely true, and that 70 per cent of all Covid deaths are people who were boosted.
