David Farrar: Once again left wing protesters rewarded by justice system

The Post reports:

The Crown has dropped its case against a man accused of damaging a Treaty of Waitangi exhibit at Te Papa Tongarewa in December 2023.

A judge in Wellington District Court was told on Tuesday that the move came after defence lawyer Julia Spelman had given the Crown a draft of a defence expert’s evidence for the future trial of Te Wehi Ratana, 31.

Does anyone think charges would have been dropped if it was say a protester who damaged the Tino Rangatiratanga flag as a protest? No of course not.

Ratana had also taken part in climate change protests that disrupted traffic around Wellington several times in 2022 and 2023.

He and others stood trial on a charge of endangering transport but a jury could not agree on verdicts against him. In that case the Crown decided it was not in the interests of justice for the Ratana and others to stand trial again.

We have a justice system that encourages law breaking – so long as it is left wing activism.

It does just seem to be this guy - the maori who got upset by the stupid rainbow crossing was convicted….is it this guy or the causes he’s making himself a public pest over?

David, yep, you are correct, as usual. However by reporting this, the wheels are in motion for change. There is a massive discontent with the people, not the far left whackos, the normal people like you and I, who are never going to take to the streets, but our annoyance at the system we fund having 2 sets of laws is not what I signed up for. We actually hold the power.....we fund this BS. Until we, the good people actually stand up and say 'enough ', Im not sure the division will correct.

Being one who was more than shocked and dismayed by this story (when it first broke) and had been further disgusted that it hadn't been covered in the local leftist rag, The Post, I went back to again check the 'on-line' version (which I'm ashamed to admit I subscribe to - maybe now not for much longer?) and that story simply doesn't exist in that 10 March edition - nor, if you're wondering, any edition (through the 'Pressreader' app) since. So, not unlike our now 'revised' justice system, what is dispensed seems to all depend on the origin of source, or to use their preferred parlance - its whakapapa.
