I was trying to find out who these self appointed "experts" were. It appears Tax Justice Aotearoa are only two people. Their chair is an ex PSA secretary. Their supporters are the normal crowd of trade unionists who are always desperate for attention. So this is basically the trade union blueprint for NZ's future. And like with Jacindanomics, they are all about wealth transfer and nothing about how this wealth will be created in the first place.
I’d leave
Everyone I know would leave.
Tax in nz is high - very high. Not because of the rates that are set, but because there are zero to few opportunities to reduce them the way there is in Oz - and there is no graduating scale of tax. Basically here if you earn anything a third goes to pay for the overpaid blob!
Also- nz is competing against all manner of countries where there is little to no tax paid by citizens- and doesn’t realise that this is a factor in why people leave
Actually an update to this - if the left get in again at the next election we’ll be leaving
Come on David, such tax rates are how you create jobs! Take the money, expand the public service, they spend on long lunches, supporting the restaurant sector , they take taxis, supporting the transport sector, they are beholden to their employers (the government, keeping them in power). It is all very virtuous and probably now taught in ECON101.
Everyone will have left. There will only be unemployed, criminals (the left) and pensioners left in this country. So who's going to support who?
Why not equal 20% income tax across the NZ nation. No exceptions , no deductions just a simple system that brings in income without an army of Government officials sucking the system dry
Adding up the suggested tax rates above I come up with a total of 167% - sounds like a great idea.
Sounds about as logical as Trump's reduction of 1500% on drug costs !
Re: death tax, average life expectancy is set to rise as many people won't be able to afford to die.
All of these proposed taxes are just nasty.
Anyone who owns a property in NZ could likely be paying an average of 8k a year just on an asset tax alone?
That is not tax that is extortion and theft.
Many would have to resort to crime just to pay for the privilege of remaining in a pox ridden nation of Marxist fools.
