It’s now official: Christopher Luxon has the political nous of a bedbug. Making membership of the Paris Accord non-negotiable in post-election talks can only be regarded by those on the right as traitorous behaviour of the worst kind. What leader of the right, in their right mind, goes trampling all over their party base and those of their coalition partners? This is nothing short of mindless stupidity.
This is the prime minister giving us the proof (as if we needed it) that he has hitched himself firmly to the globalist agenda that commentators, with more intelligence and knowledge than he has, are dismissing as a thing of the past. The Paris Accord is a means to try and compel countries to join in the left-wing climate change farce: setting unrealistic targets that have no hope of being met. Luxon intends getting into bed with the likes of Chlöe Swarbrick (figuratively speaking). Donald Trump would reel at the prospect.
Luxon compounds his nonsense by saying, “I’m going to do everything we can to hit that target.” He might like to explain who exactly the ‘we’ are, because it certainly isn’t his or his coalition partners’ voter base. As I pointed out in an earlier post: it’s all about him. A basic tenet of politics is that politicians are there to serve those who voted for them – they are not there to impose their beliefs, ideologies or personal desires on the voters. Very few, if any, voted National into office on the basis of staying in the Paris Accord. The hard truth is WE WANT OUT. It is not for the prime minister to determine otherwise.
There must be some conservative MPs left in the National Party. At the last leadership vote, whoever you are, if you didn’t vote to have this man removed as leader then here is my opinion – you are gutless. At the last election we did not vote for Ardern dressed in a suit. We did not vote for a continuation of Māori separatist rights. We did not vote for street names or school signs where Māori language takes precedence. We did not vote for a continuation of the Aotearoa nonsense nor any other form of Māori rights wedged into legislation. This form of absurdity is getting completely out of control after he said he’d fix it.
Who agrees that a top real estate agent should lose her license because she refused to attend a course on the gobbledygook of the Treaty of Waitangi imposed by the woke lot that comprise the Real Estate Institute? They should not have the right to do this. It is an outrage! The majority of the people don’t want this and that includes Māori. Give me one reason why the Treaty has anything to do with selling houses. There are none! Where is Luxon on this? Crickets. It wouldn’t surprise me if he supports it.
There has been much talk on Backchat about a grand coalition. I didn’t believe it but now I’m not so sure – although I still think it is a nightmare that won’t eventuate. We are getting closer to it, though, I must admit.
Splitting your vote is no longer an option: it is a necessity. A large group of ACT and NZ First MPs is an absolute must if we are going to stop the rot that is being imposed upon us. The liberal roosters are in charge of the hen house (National). If this election is lost, National will be to blame and that blame will rest solely with one man – Christopher Luxon.
Luxon, through his ideologies, has dug a hole for himself, his party, his coalition partners and the wider electorate on the right. I implore David Seymour and Winston Peters to call a crisis meeting with Luxon to educate him in the art of politics and how to win an election. He won last time because voters weren’t aware they were voting for Ardern in drag. We subsequently have discovered the truth of the matter. Going down the track he is on risks disaster on 7 November.

Because China, Russia and India (and the US) are going full bore on fossil fuels, digging and opening coal mines on a weekly basis, while some deluded little man at the bottom of the world is going full bore in the opposite direction. To what end? This is the downright stupidity of it. In reality it’s nothing more than a game invented by the left who have convinced themselves if we don’t do this, the end of the world is nigh.
A cleaner greener future might be desirable but, as Shane Jones says, it’s not an overnight fix. He’s not far off the mark when he declares fossil fuels will be needed for another 50 years and maybe more. Luxon has been sucked into the climate change hyperbole that, for a small country like ours dealing to a large degree in agriculture products to ensure our wealth, could likely lead to an even bigger economic crisis than we already have.
All of this makes this election vital to the country’s future. Seymour and Peters reflect the views of the electorate on the right far more than Luxon does. Therefore, to make sure a right-wing government is elected in November, it is imperative we have a strong ACT party and a strong NZ First party. National have looked like Labour for the past 2.8 years. Any changes they have brought that you would think a right of centre party would think second nature, have been done slowly, with great reluctance and half arsed. They have clung to the idiotic Ute tax, but watered down.
Luxon performatively looked woke from pre election. And don't forget, he was courted by Labour before he chose National. There is no way Ardern would have even considered anything less than a signed up progressive liberal, so no surprises what Luxon is.
That he has suffered so many issues around his leadership and so close to the election plainly states National is splintered down the woke and conservative camps and a decent chunk cannot stand the sight of him.
But that he is a climate catastrophe believer is probably the last straw. Apart from making NZ considerably poorer pursuing this religion, and even if he sacrifices NZ on the woke altar of the climate gods, not one single thing will change in our weather. Nothing. We will just have a lot less money.
John Key's man Luxon has at least proven any doubters wrong. He is a hopeless politician, a garbage leader and in the wrong party.
There is the real possibility that if the coalition make it back, and National is substantially smaller in number, he's gone burgers. But there a lot of holes to line up for that happen.

The Paris Accord lunacy is just the last straw. It will impoverish New Zealand.
Bear in mind that NZ’s emissions, are only 0.17% (= 1/600th) of total global human emissions, which in turn are only 3% of total global CO2 emissions.
3% x 0.17% = 0.0051% !!
i.e. NZ emissions are basically ZERO !!. So – goodbye Kiwi’s and the world does not give a sh^t.
John Key did the country no favours - look at the state of the place. Luxon is merely the symptom of the sickness in National. To a very large degree National is Labour with a change of tie and has been for a long time. Trust us, 'we know best' is the mantra of every Party. The NZ public have no control of the Parties and policy or actions residing over our governance or it appears the apparitions running the place in the public sector. The voting public is not respected and this is not a democracy; it is a dictatorship in one form or other. Who are the masters, the Party & public sector unto themselves, not the NZ voting public.
This election the voter has an odd occurrence. We have an opportunity to ‘take charge’! But it will require a ‘serious swing’ to NZF & Act re party vote. The national voter has it in their power to send a message that National will not soon forget – backed up by email to all three governing Parties putting them on notice throughout the next term on what you all expect from them. You cannot vote then go back to sleep. The country is drowning in its own creation and coruptions; things have to change.
As we have seen, MMP hasn’t delivered representation, the Parties do as they please. It is high time that changed. This election is that moment. I also consider the voting public should retain authority over the actions of a sitting govt, not be stripped of authority as is the case now. Key thumbed his nose at the public, as does Luxon, as did Labour, and at times Labour & National joined forces to impose their will. Maori seats, National is blocking a binding public vote. National refuse to correct their mistakes or to allow the NZ people to do it for them. Labour and National both refuse to respect the NZ people and refuse to be bound by the people’s authority. They govern for themselves, not the public or the nations collective highest good.
The NZ people are our nation and is about time we found that voice, that authority and exercised it. The path of decline and decay has to stop. The country needs a completely new course that leaves behind the mess and baggage our govts are responsible for.

Yes, the planet is warming. But accepting the climate alarmists’ mantra about fossil fuels means suspending critical thinking.
Why?
They claim it’s all down to carbon dioxide from human sources. How can it be?
The IPCC itself recognises that human-source CO2 is less than five percent of all the CO2 in the atmosphere — yet claims that five percent makes all the difference.
What about the other 95 percent? Oh, we can’t control oceans, forests, volcanoes. etc, so they don’t matter?
Pull the other one.
The UN and governments want to tax us more, on the basis of arithmetic that doesn’t add up.
Water vapour and solar radiation have been acknowledged to have a much greater warming effect than CO2 or other trace gases like methane.
Bit difficult to tax water vapour or sunshine though.
So we will just say it’s all due to your “emissions” and insist that you reduce them.
The fact that all the emission-reduction efforts are having no effect on planet warming doesn’t appear to have blunted the argument.
