When government ministers parade through military graduation ceremonies to applaud our service personnel, they conveniently ignore the elephant standing right on the parade ground: a defense force quietly being converted into an ideological branch office for traditional tribal cosmology.

While political outfits posture about "one law for all," that aspiration is a pathetic joke so long as the state’s legal foundations are riddled with unlegislated theological rot. The root cause of this systemic cancer is the bicultural policy framework baked into our state apparatus—the lazy, fraudulent fiction that New Zealand is a binary partnership governed by ancestral privilege rather than a secular, multicultural democracy. This bicultural mandate is the Trojan horse that bureaucrats use to bypass our secular contract, smuggling religious mythology straight into institutions where it has zero constitutional right to exist.
Look no further than the New Zealand Army’s internal doctrine to see this theocratic social engineering in broad daylight. Under the sanitized cover of bicultural directives, pen-pushers codified an institutional identity centering the war god Tūmatauenga, demanding that modern soldiers submit to a specific tribal-supremacist worldview. When the brass implemented this madness, they didn't offer a polite invitation; they weaponized administrative compliance to force personnel into compulsory tribal rituals, state-mandated karakia, forced haka choreography, and nose-pressing hongi. For an atheist, a Christian, a Hindu, or an agnostic who swore an oath to defend a free country, being dragooned into religious theater is an unconscionable assault on personal autonomy.
Let us call out the blatant legal vandalism at play here, because this systemic coercion spits directly in the face of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990. Sections 13 and 15 explicitly enshrine the fundamental right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion—including the freedom not to be coerced into participating in religious or spiritual ceremonies. When military officialdom compels service members to engage in theological practices with no genuine, penalty-free opt-out, they are trampling basic civil liberties to satisfy the vanity of touchy careerists. Dissenters who object behind closed doors face institutional blacklisting and the silent threat of the Armed Forces Discipline Act, while anyone who speaks up publicly is instantly smeared as a "racist" or a "colonizer" by the ruling class mob.
The establishment only hits the panic button when their cover is blown. Back in February 2026, after intense political exposure forced Defence Minister Judith Collins to intervene, the Army was compelled to throw up its hands and announce an emergency "pause" on its notorious Cultural Skills Framework (Annex 2B). Yet make no mistake: that temporary timeout was nothing more than a coward's PR shield. They left Major-General Rose King’s wider bicultural policy intact, keeping the theological machinery oiled and hidden in the background until public scrutiny fades away. A temporary pause is not a permanent eradication; it is just a tactical retreat by bureaucrats terrified of total exposure.
If we are genuinely serious about restoring a functional democracy, we must stop tinkering with the symptoms and obliterate the disease at its source. Lawmakers and political movements must summon the backbone to rip the words "bicultural policy" and tribal co-governance mandates out of all legislation, enforcing a ruthless, unyielding return to a 100% secular state. Stop letting the establishment sanitize tikanga as a mere "code of conduct"—when a framework explicitly teaches spiritual realms, spirit travel, and an afterlife, it is a religious belief system that belongs in the exact same category as any other faith, not masquerading as civil law. Strip this unlegislated theological mumbo-jumbo from every statute, resource consent, and military order, fire the ideological careerists who put myth-making ahead of national security, and ensure our laws treat every single citizen as an equal individual under one neutral flag, rather than dividing us into a neo-feudal caste system where an unelected, tribal-privileged elite rule over tax-paying serfs.

The coercion of people who cannot say no without consequences is pure evil.
The minds of children in school, university students, persons in professional careers, trainees at colleges and even our country's soldiers have all been infiltrated and impregnated with the Maori rot.
And the country is slowly rotting.
Bang on.
I served in the NZArmy and I recall it was mandatory for ALL soldiers to be trained to perform a bespoke haka prior to deployment to East Timor. Refusing to participate was simply not an option.
In 1842, George Holyoake was convicted of blasphemy and thrown in jail, where he refused to participate in prayers conducted by the resident godbotherer.
Holyoake is credited with coining the term 'secularism'.
Looks like we need a George Holyoake to stand up to the religious bullshit being forced on people in the armed forces (and other State entities).
Funny how the wheel turns..........
Legislate for NZ to be a secular state - as France did in 1905.
I agree completely John. There is no case for compulsory organised spiritualism in the Defence Force. Indeed, such a move is absolutely illegal under military law. But I am guessing that the General’s illegal orders are for a mid-term purpose. If the control of this country is to pass into the hands of a group of part-Maori oligarchs they cannot afford to allow a national Army that retains a British culture of the 20th century. The threat would be too great for the oligarchs to pursue their plans without nullifying the military. This is General King’s role, and of course Judith Collins’s. Note that the Maori Spiritualisation is only ‘paused’, and the people concerned retain their powerful roles, instead of being immediately dismissed. It’s really quite a clever and far-sighted move, don’t you think? The process has been on-going for quite some time, now coming to fruition.
Forgive me for being bloomin' cynical but Chris Penk was the Minister of Defence and he has a good head on his shoulders. I was waiting for him to put a complete stop to the Maorification BS in the Armed Forces but as I see it, Luxon found reason to chuck him aside and install the overworked and completely underachieving Goldsmith in post. Rose is carrying on unimpeded on her mission to stuff the Armed Forces and the smiling twerp Goldie is complicit along with Luxon.
Judith Collins lost my respect when she only "paused" this in your face racist crap - never condemned it, or stopped it.
My father and his mates who put their lives on the line for 5 years fighting for democracy would be so angry.
One more nail in Luxon’s coffin. It’s not like he hasn’t had time to fix it.
It’s becoming more and more obvious that the solution is to party-vote ACT in November.
Anon@11.12, the same nonsense has been running in our schools for decades. When will the citizens of this country wake up and call time on this indoctrination that is now rampant? Of course, that will require a leader equipped with the semblance of a backbone.
The Chinese and the Russians are laughing their heads off. The Russians prob have an Orthodox chaplain
Major-general Rose King strikes a reassuring note too - a counter-point to the traditional iwi mere-wielding cannibalist pre 1840 warfare our armed forces may offer.
Be interesting to see how the Air Force and Navy are faring with this debacle. Will aircrew have to stand at the planes nose and sing a waiata before going on a flight?
This voodoo and mumbo-jumbo is not confined to the Army but is indicative of what is going on in the whole country. Church Parade on Sunday was not compulsory and RCs were not forced to attend other churches. You could opt out altogether (but might find yourself peeling spuds or some such.) By enforcing participation in Maori customs we have lost a freedom.
