Mike's Minute: The climate advice is bordering on nutty
Labels: Carbon credits, Climate Commission, Mike Hosking, Rod CarrI listened to Rod Carr yesterday, post the release of his Climate Commission's advice to the Government 2036-2040.
He is unfailingly polite. When it was put to him that the Government, who have launched their own inquiry into methane might be cutting across his work, he was having none of it, despite the fact that is exactly what the Government are doing.

Barry Brill: The NZ Climate Change Commission is broken
Labels: Barry Brill, Climate Commission, Climate scaremongeringWhy do we need a Ministry for the Environment, a Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment and a Climate Change Commission, all three of which hire people to review one another’s work[1]?
The short answer is lack of trust.
Environment Ministries are rightly seen as being packed with de-growth zealots, who have a revolving door with scores of well-funded environmental campaigners. Their government careers depend upon maximising environmental alarms and devising expensive programmes to fix them. Their subsequent NGO careers depend on impressing the activist groups.

Chuck Bird: Replace and shrink the Climate Change Commission
Labels: Chuck Bird, Climate Commission, Rod CarrI was an active member of the National Party for years. I travelled to AGMs and was a voting delegate several times. I reluctantly joined the Blue Greens having been assured that National’s climate change policy was based on science.
After a meeting Rod Carr, Chairperson of the Climate Change Commission I found that was not the case. That was now few years ago so I cannot quote him word for word. I asked if he thought that life on earth would end if we did not drastically reduce emissions quickly. He said no but the planet would be in a very bad way. The alarmist view about global warming changing to global boiling had not been suggested at the time.
