NZCPR Newsletter: Losing Trust

The latest polls show the Coalition is failing to capture the hearts and minds of voters. Roy Morgan tells the story: support for National was down 2 percentage points from a month ago to 29 percent, ACT was unchanged on 10.5 and New Zealand First dropped 2.5 to 7.

In comparison, Labour increased 3 to 34, the Greens were up 2 to 13.5, while the Maori Party dropped 1 to 2.5 percent.

In other words, if an election was held tomorrow, Labour, the Greens and the Maori Party would be in government with 50 percent of the vote - up 4. The Coalition would be relegated to the opposition benches with 46.5 percent, down 4.5 to its lowest level of support this year.

So, what’s going on? Why aren’t the Coalition’s efforts to repair the damage created by that disastrous two-term Labour Government resonating more strongly with voters?

More importantly, why aren’t voters terrified of the prospect of being governed by the toxic trio - the grossly incompetent Labour Party, the extremist Greens, and the racist Maori Party?

Tony Orman: Natural Climate Change

An article in a recent farming paper entitled “Carbon Credits a Discredit” by Leo Cooney rekindled questions about climate change, the ETS, indeed the whole matter of climate change formerly known as global warming. There arises much confusion in the manipulation by proponents of global warming to any modicum of thought and pondering.

I have pondered why the term "global warming” reverted to "climate change"? That in itself is confusing because climate change has always been happening in cyclic fashion. There’s scientific evidence.

Barry Brill: Do atmospheric methane molecules live alone?

Or does cohabiting natural water vapour mask their warming efforts?

A rare public debate has broken out on a climate science question that really matters – the warming effects of methane molecules in the atmosphere.

The argument was kicked off by Allison & Sheahen (2018) (‘AS18’) which discussed the major greenhouse  gases (water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide) and their respective theoretical  contributions to planetary warming.

Ian Bradford: How The Human Induced Climate Change Fraud Began

How The Human Induced Climate Change Fraud Began and Why Some People are Easily Manipulated to Believe That There is a “Climate Crisis”.

The belief that the Earth faces an unprecedented and imminent catastrophic threat from human induced climate change has been one of the most extraordinary episodes in the entire history of either science or politics.

It has led scientists and politicians to contemplate nothing less than a complete revolution in the way mankind sources energy required to keep modern industrial civilisation functioning by phasing out the fossil fuels on which that civilisation was built.

Barry Brill: The Great Flood - Religion vs Science

During the week-long drama of Auckland’s ‘biblical floods’ there was only one leading New Zealand politician who made a complete ass of himself by confusing weather with climate. Not James Shaw. It was Christopher Luxon.

Luxon is no scientist. His dogmatic declaration that the downpour was caused by “climate change”, aka anthropogenic global warming (AGW), owed nothing to evidence, or data, or any cause-and-effect reasoning. He just knew. For him, the hellish threat of human-caused global warming is apparently an article of faith.

Ian Bradford: Carbon Dioxide and Methane Do Not Cause Global Warming

Applying logic on the question of whether carbon dioxide or methane are causing global warming

Let’s get one or two things straight for a start.  There is talk of Carbon emissions, Carbon Emissions Trading Scheme, Carbon tax, and so on.  The word “Carbon” is a complete misnomer. Carbon, in general, is a black solid like soot or lampblack. Graphite another form, is dark grey and is fairly soft. It is used in pencils for the so called “lead”.  Yet another form is diamond – generally clear but can have colours. These different forms are called allotropes. So the correct term for the gas is Carbon Dioxide. So it is a Carbon Dioxide tax NOT a Carbon tax.

Ross Meurant: Providers or Power

Last week I penned a piece on hydrogen being promoted at the G7 as an alternative energy source for Europe. My conclusion was: Europe would do itself as massive favour if it accelerated the supply of Russian gas via the North Stream.

In this article I clinically debunk the myth that power generators: solar, wind and batteries, are the solution to protect the environment. In fact, I demonstrate that these, “Green Machines” will cause massively greater environmental damage than is the unfortunate by-product of the mainstream providers of power.

Some basic physics: there are limits on the natural sources which cannot be exceeded.

Best conversion rate of sun photons to electrons is 33%. We achieve 26%

Best wind conversion is 60%. We achieve 45%.

Therefore, we are close to the maximum capture of energy from these sources – providing the sun shines and the wind blows.

The solution some say is batteries.

Taking Tesla’s battery factory in Nevada – the world’s biggest; it would take 500 years for that factory to make enough batteries to satisfy the energy consumption of one day in the USA.

Viv Forbes: The Never-ending Battles of the Coral Sea

For at least 50 years Australian taxpayers and other innocents have supported a parasitic industry in academia, bureaucracy, law, media and the tax-exempt Green Alarm “Charities”, all studying, regulating, inspecting and writing about yet another “imminent threat to Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef.”

It has become the never-ending battle of the Coral Sea.

The threats change, but there is always a doomsday forecast – Crown-of-Thorns, oil drilling, fishing, cane farming, coastal shipping, global warming, ocean acidity, coral bleaching, port dredging, chemical and fertiliser runoff, coal transport, river sediments, loss of world heritage status etc. Every recycled scare, magnified by the media and parroted by politicians, generates more income for the alarm industry, usually at the expense of taxpayers, consumers or local industries.
