Eliora: Williams Has Been Called NZ’s Tucker Carlson

The aftermath of the pandemic is being examined by these gentlemen.

Inside, or perhaps despite the drama of the Covid pandemic, some have found freedom and with it a new lease of life. The so-called awake world managed to mentally fight against the elites’ new world order enough to reject at least some of their severe totalitarian controls. Dubious psychological tactics were used to ‘force’ humanity into compliance and they were so bad that most succumbed. Some well-known high-profile veteran broadcasters, like Tucker Carlson in the US and Peter Williams in New Zealand, did not, however.

Brendan O'Neill: The shameful Nazi apologism of the Very Online right

Tucker Carlson’s chat with Darryl Cooper was a new low for the crank right.

Forget that toothless crackhead who says he had sex with Barack Obama. Never mind the lowlife pimp who cosplays as a lifestyle guru, Andrew Tate. This week Tucker Carlson scraped even lower in the barrel of cranks to find a guest for his chat show on X. He had on Darryl Cooper, a historian, podcaster and – wait for it – apologist for Adolf Hitler. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we’ve now reached the ‘Were the Nazis really the bad guys?’ stage of contrarian online blather.

Dr Oliver Hartwich: How to explain the right's Putin mania

Tucker Carlson’s visit to Moscow made headlines in recent weeks. Carlson first did a servile interview with Putin, then produced a series of short videos expressing his admiration for Moscow, its underground and even supermarket shopping carts.

In both cases, Carlson’s pretended naïveté made it hard to regard him as the journalist he once might have been. Instead, he appeared as a blind cheerleader for the Russian government.

Roger Partridge: The Tucker Carlson show - Screening on a network near you

Television audiences were granted a rare privilege last week: an extended interview with warmongering President Vladimir Putin to “set the record straight” on Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

And who better to provide the pulpit of truth for this enlightening exchange? Why, Tucker Carlson, of course – now operating his own TV channel following his abrupt exit from Fox News last year.

Andrew Dickens: This weekend showed the Greens are fast becoming unelectable

So two big video interviews over the weekend.

Firstly, Tucker Carlson interviewed Vladimir Putin.

Tucker said it was because no-one but him had bothered to ask which is BS. There's always people in the media claiming they're the only people holding power to account.

Brendan O'Neill: The truth about Vladimir Putin? He’s boring

The Tucker-Putin snoozefest confirmed that both the old right and the new right are wrong about Putin.

So the Tucker-Putin chat has finally landed. And it is oddly flat. The breathless predictions of both Mr Carlson’s fanboys and his noisy detractors turned out to be wrong. His sit-down with Vladimir Putin was neither the most explosive exclusive of modern times nor was it a reckless platforming of ‘evil’ that might have world-shaking consequences. It was just strange. And a tad tedious. That this feverishly anticipated chat between the preppy hero of the Very Online right and the notoriously guarded leader of the Russian Federation had so little spark, and at times felt positively sluggish, requires an explanation.

Lushington D. Brady: Newsflash - Fox Was Always Woke

With the forced departure of its undisputed star, Tucker Carlson, Fox News has seen a dramatic slide in its ratings. For the first time in years, MSNBC narrowly pipped Fox in viewer numbers. Worse for the network, many of its once diehard viewers are accusing it of that worst of corporate sins: going woke.

And they’re right.

Lushington D. Brady: Looks Like Someone’s Feeling a Bit Threatened

Nothing indicates the sheer desperation of the mainstream media than their resort to ever-more hysterical and obvious lies. Churchill apocryphally said that if you have enemies it means you stood for something. If you have enemies who constantly screech ridiculous lies about you, it means you really stand for something.

Clearly, Tucker Carlson stands for something really big, or else the mainstream media wouldn’t be shrieking such obvious bollocks as this:

Mike Hosking: Authenticity trumps all in media

We touched on authenticity before the school holidays.

I said that one of the more damning aspects of the Dominion and Fox news scrap was not whether Fox was at fault over claims around the election, but rather the revelation in depositions that Tucker Carlson lied about Donald Trump.

As we know, as of last week, a bit over a billion dollars is heading Dominion's was after the settlement.

A lot of people who hate Fox wanted the thing to go to trial. The reason Fox didn’t is kind of exemplified by the Carlson sacking.
