In a powerful critique of the NZ Herald’s declining editorial standards, Counterspin Media has highlighted a disturbing contradiction in the legacy mainstream media’s messaging.
The NZ Herald is facing mounting scrutiny over its apparent promotion of content that many consider degenerate, leading to concerns about the social consequences of normalising such material.
In a recent display of irony, the NZ Herald featured two conflicting stories side by side on their homepage. One column reported on a disgraced teacher charged for giving a sex toy to a student, while another article openly promoted the use of male sex toys. The juxtaposition raises serious questions about the media’s role in shaping public attitudes and the potential harm in promoting such content.

In a tweet Counterspin also pointed out past instances where the NZ Herald has been criticised, including publishing a video interview with a minor dressed in drag, discussing his “alternative lifestyle.” This editorial decision sparked outrage among those concerned about the influence of such content on younger audiences.
“What the perverts at the NZ Herald might fail to understand, is that by promoting degenerate content, they are encouraging degenerate behaviour. This then leads to the various social maladies which are now becoming commonplace in the West.”
The critique doesn’t stop at content alone. Counterspin Media highlighted the hypocrisy of the NZ Herald’s stance on censorship. While the media outlet supports freedom of expression in promoting what some might call degenerate content, it simultaneously advocates for silencing dissenting voices that challenge its editorial choices. Critics are often labelled as hateful for expressing concerns about the moral and social impact of this content.
Counterspin called for accountability, urging the media to reconsider the long-term societal consequences of normalising harmful behaviours. At a time when Western societies grapple with rising social maladies, it’s crucial that the media take responsibility for the narratives they choose to amplify. By promoting more balanced, ethical content, outlets like the NZ Herald could foster healthier public discourse, rather than furthering cultural decay.

You have made a very fair point. The far left won't be able to clarify....
Last time I looked the New Zealand Herald was a privately owned newspaper that is quite at liberty to print what it likes so long as it is not defamatory. You don't have to buy it or read its website, just like I choose not to waste my time reading the Daily Telegraph New Zealand website.
