The Gren Party has given us two more reasons to not vote for them.
The first is the on-going saga over whether or not to invoke the waka jumping law :
It will now drag on until at least October 17th, but might go longer if Darleen Tama has another card to play.
The Green Party vows to reinstate the oil and gas ban and revoke permits when it returns to government following the coalition’s introduction of legislation to reopen offshore oil and gas exploration this afternoon.
“A Green Government will reinstate the oil and gas ban and revoke any permits granted under the current regime and their obsession with pouring oil, coal and gas on the climate crisis fire,” says Green Party Co-Leader and spokesperson for Climate Change, Chlöe Swarbrick.
“We can have an economy that supports people and the planet, instead of exploiting both. It’s simply a matter of political willpower. . .
It’s not a matter of political willpower, or politics.
It’s a matter of research, science and technology none of which are yet advanced enough to allow any country to replace fossil fuels – not even those with nuclear power which the Greens would also oppose.
That this announcement comes so soon after the announcement of substantial job losses as businesses close at least in part because of high power prices; and we were being urged to save power because nature hadn’t obliged with sufficient rain, wind and solar to to generate enough renewable energy.
Once more the Greens are showing they care less about people than the planet and politics and are determined to put the environmental carts well in front of the horses that will enable sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels – research, science and technology.

Green is the new RED.
No, it's not a matter of political willpower, or politics. It's a matter of a lack of understanding about how the petro-chemical industry works and its importance to the New Zealand economy. Take a look at Ronald Stein's piece just above for the fundamentals. The Greens have already trashed New Zealand's oil and gas industry directly causing the closure of the two methanol plants in Taranaki with the loss of hundreds of millions in export earnings and 300 jobs. But they haven't just trashed a vital industry. They have trashed New Zealand's reputation as a safe place to invest. And that extends a lot further than the oil and gas industry. And all despite the fact that methanol is not a fossil fuel and has nothing to do with global warming. But the Greens never were particularly deep thinkers were they? Pity the country has to pay the price for their ignorance.
