DTNZ: Ardern to receive Damehood at Windsor Castle

Former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is set to formally receive her damehood next week at a ceremony in Windsor Castle, London.

The honour, to be bestowed by Prince William, evidently recognises her “leadership” during critical moments such as the Christchurch attacks and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ardern was appointed a Dame Grand Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours, just months after her unexpected resignation from office.

The news has sparked a backlash on social media, with many criticising her record as prime minister.

Comments ranged from questioning her leadership to outright condemnation.

“How does the worst PM in NZ history get knighted? If running NZ into the ground earns you a title, what’s next!” read one post.

Another user remarked, “It’s disgraceful and makes a mockery of the award,” while others accused her of abandoning New Zealand, saying, “She is too busy to come back to NZ even for the ceremony. We were always only a stepping stone for her.”

The mass murder of 51 people is turned into propaganda making Jacinda the heroine of it all. It is nauseating.

Will a life peerage follow in due course? Baroness Ardern of Aotearoa ( a failed state).

Agree Mary. When will the world wake up?

I think Wills has a crush on her.
Whereas the rest of us would just like to see her crushed.... metaphorically speaking.

Wills thinks she's an awesome leader. Then again, what do you expect from someone who is the result of centuries of in-breeding and is the son of our current "climate change" King.

Comrade Ardern, the Red.
Vomit !!!

Generations of inbreeding has consequences. They are so far removed from reality.

Yes. I bet jumped at the opportunity to go to Windsor Castle, no noisy protesters can get near her in there. Mind, the British press have a real downer on the Left at the moment, it's a pity that GB News don't seem to be interested in her.

Too gutless to set foot in NZ again as the reception would not be good. Probably spun a sob story to William, and he fell for it. Much more publicity if the presentation is done in England. For an avowed left wing person, she has no trouble accepting the baubles of office from a capitalist nation. Has no shame

The bigger shame is that we NZ'ers put her there. As long as we treat our 3 yearly vote as a popularity vote based on feelings and emotions this BS will continue.

Bang on anonymous. I posted on web sites, and pleaded with all and sundry on my sphere to not vote for the intellectually challenged and woefully inadequate Adern.

I'm not that clever so if I could predict the looming Adern disaster, how thick are the over 50 percent of voters who voted for Adern after her disastrous 1st term.

Fool me twice, shame on me.
