It is being slowly taken away by stealth from within.

Eschaton said...: As I get older, the lies and myths about, particularly, WW1 and WW2 become less sustainable and can be seen for what they are. Never forget that we have since got what they died fighting for, at first slowly but ever-quicker. The difference is, they thought they were fighting for something else, which was actually probably far more aligned with what the Germans were fighting for. The biggest tragedy was that so many Germans and Allies died fighting each other, when they actually had a common enemy. Don't forget that Germany has been occupied ever since 1945, as has the rest of Europe, though less overtly, and look at the absolute state of them both. The rest of the European-derived nations aren't far behind.

How people can look at the Western world in 2025, while still believing that "we" won WW2 is amazing to me. The fact of the social conditioning for 80 years and the still-ongoing propaganda campaign indicate that the reality is not what we are told it is.; April 25, 2025 at 11:49 AM

Third Reich Germany in the 1930s is mirrored in NZ in 2025.

Goebbels conned the German population, the mainstream media in NZ is doing exactly that right now.

Further to my comment above, I think you have it precisely backwards: the "MSM" (which includes all sources of "ways of thinking", including academia, news media and popular entertainment) have always lied to us, and that includes their characterisations of people like Goebbels and the Nazis. Their role is now, and has always been, perception management, and, up until quite recently, they have done a great job in managing the perceptions of the recent past.

The reason we cannot have a reasonable discussion about the Nazis, the reasons for their rise to power, and the causes and motivations of WW2, is, to put it very simplistically, much of what we are told about that time is a lie, to both justify WW2 itself and, especially, to justify the post-1945 world order.

As one example, you reiterate the common trope that the Nazis/Goebbels "conned the German population." No one doubts that the Nazis used propaganda, because all regimes, including ours, use it. But we are always encouraged to take this claim as read, without ever actually delving into and analysing the claims Goebbels and others made and testing them for veracity. He and others made certain statements, all of which can be assessed by reason, logic and by empirical means.

Presumably, soberly addressing the history of the mid 20th century in Europe, instead of being emotive about them, is considered a sign of pathology and probably antisemitism, which is what the propaganda of the victors tells us.; April 25, 2025 at 5:22 PM

Regarding Germany, I'm saying that the nature of "its actions" during the Third Reich are defined and determined by the victorious allies. In other words, the victors get to write the history.

As just one contemporary example, look at the now well-established and acknowledged falsehoods that were presented as truths leading up to the invasion of and overthrow of the Iraqi regime - lies for the service of larger goals. Then you look at the many fantastical stories stemming from October 7th 2023, many of which nobody now seriously believes, and you will see analogies with the WW2 mythology - that is, atrocity propaganda used to generate sympathy and support that would otherwise be absent. Then you look at the "war crimes" (modern day Hitler) Putin was claimed (for about a week) to have committed early in the Ukraine war - again, self serving and clear falsehoods purely for propaganda purposes.

I'm also saying that serious interrogation and "revisionism" of the pre and post WW2 narrative is seriously frowned upon, to the extent that doing so can get you ostracised from society. It is very noteworthy that the narrative of no other historical event is protected in this way (and this is because the popular narrative is essential to and forms the basis of the post-WW2 era), which, in itself justifies any thinking person being sceptical of it.; April 25, 2025 at 8:58 PM
