Good thing we had a spare $152 million

Why are persisting like war eager Europe to continue to prop up a lost cause? How many more thousands of young Ukraines need to die before we give it up? As we inevitably will??

This isn’t helping, it’s just continuing to fertilise Ukraine with the blood of thier youth 🤦‍♂️

Anonymous above is typical of those who live in utopia, where bullies don't exist and the world is a beautiful place. Grow up. War is a nasty business, but things but are things going to be better overall if we let other nations walk all over us. You would have a different opinion if you had lived under the yoke of Russia after WW2. Places like the Baltic States, Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe. You have the luxury of dismissing Ukraine, from a lucky country that has never had to endure destruction of it cities by another country

The moderators seems to have taken exception to my first attempt to respond to Anon 12.32 so I will restrain myself and say only that New Zealand is supporting Ukraine because it's the right thing to do. Anon 12.32 has placed himself firmly in Donald Trump's camp, whose only comprehension of what's right is might.

The real issue here is the absence of “ on the ground and in the air” military support from Ukraine’s NATO neighbours.
It appears to me that Trump’s strategy has always been in getting European nations to take greater responsibility for Ukraine’s defence.
Because if they don’t do that in a more meaningful way, Putin will see their lack of a meaningful response as an act of weakness and carry on regardless.
Ukraine joining NATO has always been a red herring.
Ever since the start of this war, Europeans have shown a reluctance to stump up even with what they have got that could make a difference in the air war.
Instead they, along with the rest of the Free World, continue to lambast Trump for threatening to walk away.
They are the ones who have blood on their hands.
They need to get real and enter the war on the ground and in the air immediately because that is what they would be obligated to do if Ukraine was a member of NATO. In the current context, there is no difference between members and non members when it comes to defence against Putin’s invasion. They are all in it together.
Putin like all dictators, only respects leaders who show strength and a willingness to use it.
This war will continue until NATO puts its troops where its mouth is.
