JC: Will Luxon Bed With His Lefty Mates?

Prime Minister Luxon appears to find himself troubled over whether to recognise Palestine as a state. He is mulling over whether to get into bed with his lefty mates who have already done so, namely Albanese in Australia, Carney in Canada, Starmer in the UK and Macron in France. These are all weak leaders who make an art out of virtue signalling. They operate in a way that gives them a sense of moral superiority.

Are we going to witness a ‘birds of a feather’ situation unfold. I hope not. But, after the labours of intense cogitation and discussion, which inevitably lead to a sense of tiredness, he will probably join them. He says it’s a ‘complex situation’ and therefore time is needed to think the matter through. From my point of view it is complex only because Mr Luxon has made it so.

He is under a gross misapprehension, as are the others leaders aforementioned, that if their call for a ceasefire is implemented then all will be well and a Palestinian state will automatically follow – bringing peace to the region. How naïve can you be? How can they possibly think that is a realistic proposition? How do they think a Palestinian state can succeed under such circumstances? It is abject folly to think that will work.

Here are the problems associated with that thinking. First, it is brought about by leaders who are weak and woke. Born decades after WWII they seem to have little comprehension of what the effect was of that conflagration, particularly on the Jewish people. It is naïve in the extreme to think a ceasefire will bring peace to the region. This thinking is more akin to pacifists than those displaying strong leadership.

These current world leaders are looking and sounding more like Chamberlain than Churchill. Where would the world be today if the King hadn’t had the good sense to put Churchill in charge? Leftist leaders do not believe in strong leadership. There is a bust of Winston Churchill in the White House and when Trump is president it sits in the Oval Office. Both Obama and Biden removed it to another room. What a surprise!

It’s the old saying: if you don’t learn from history you are bound to repeat it. That’s exactly what these leaders are doing. They have put themselves on some sort of moral high ground that makes them feel good about themselves. The reality is they are following a false narrative and strategy. It will not work and there are reasons why.

First, if it is as simple as they are implying then the state they are recognising will not be one that is prepared to live peacefully alongside Israel. Donald Trump, in the Oval Office with the bust of Churchill looking over him, is having none of this self-righteous thinking. He, along with Netanyahu, will never recognise a Palestinian state under the current circumstances. Now Germany has said the same.

Second, as I mentioned in a previous post, until Hamas and the other terrorist outfits are largely incapacitated, this moral pipe dream cannot possibly work. That is why Trump is supporting the current efforts of Israel to, as much as possible, rid the region of these people. That’s how it must be for a Palestinian state to have any hope. There are reports that Hamas are now rebuilding their tunnels in parts of Gaza.

Also, I am beyond sick and tired of the tiresome images appearing nightly on the six o’clock news of starving children on the one hand and Israeli troops killing civilians and journalists on the other. On the first point the reports are grossly exaggerated and therefore misleading. One report regarding a child was a blatant lie. As usual, from the left media, we are only getting one side of the story, to which I am now immune.

On the second point, this is a war for goodness sake and that’s what can happen, particularly when Hamas uses hospitals as places to shield the terrorists. And a word to Three News, most of us would prefer not to have to stomach that ageing airhead Helen Clark spouting her nonsensical views. There is a high risk of dinners being spoilt and severe bouts of indigestion when such a spectre appears at mealtimes.

It is what Israel is having to deal with, on behalf of the Western world I might add, that Luxon should be taking into account when agonising over his decision. If he were realistic about where things currently sit in the Middle East, he could spare himself the mental trauma he is putting himself through.

I guess he will join his leftist mates. If that’s the bed he makes for himself, he will have to lie in it. It’s not a bed I would find comfortable. Warm fuzzies are one thing, but reality is quite another.
