The media and many politicians worldwide continue to push a narrative of impending climate catastrophe. Whether or not you are a climate change pessimist, we live on a gradually warming planet and will need to adapt to this. Ongoing wide-ranging, balanced critical analysis is needed of the long-term history of Earth's climate, scientific models, current evidence, and underlying political and economic motivations driving the climate debate. This article addresses only limited recent evidence and analysis which indicates that climate change is real but does not pose an existential threat.

John Raine: Drive Climate Change Policy with Evidence not Alarmism

Ian Bradford: Climate and Weather Are Not the Same - and thinning clouds cause the warming.
Labels: Climate change alarmism, CO2 emissions, Difference between weather and climate, Ian BradfordWeather is real and observed as well as being chaotic and non linear. There are no regular patterns with weather. Weather is part of our physical world, climate is not. You can look out your window and see weather. You cannot see climate by looking out your window. Climate is an abstract concept. That means it exists in thought or as an idea, but does not have a physical existence. We know most climate predictions are made using a computer. So clearly there is no physical existence. In fact, it is likely no one living at present will notice any climate change. When scientists talk about global warming they are talking about 1.1 deg C since the Industrial Revolution in 1850. We don’t know whether it is true or not, but the alarmists say most of the warming has occurred in recent years. So to get around this let’s take 80 years from year 1900. 80 Years is an average life span. So for someone who lived from 1900 to 1980 the temperature increase was just 0.5 Deg C. Given a lifespan of about 80 years can anybody detect a rise of 0.5 deg C over their life? No of course they can’t.

Matt Ridley: Stop taxing the poor to fund useless climate programs
Labels: Climate change alarmism, Matt RidleyThe climate boondoggle is one of the most regressive wealth transfers in history: never in the field of human commerce, or at least not since the sheriff of Nottingham, has so much tax been paid by people so poor to people so rich. Perhaps Ed Miliband is hoping that by giving lots of money to rich people, he can then impose a wealth tax on them in a sort of economic perpetual-motion machine.

Ian Bradford: Rain and Flooding are NOT Climate - they are Weather Events
Labels: Climate change alarmism, Difference between weather and climate, Ian BradfordI have been forcing myself to watch TV1 news for a time so that I know what they are promoting. There is hardly a night goes by without part-Maori featuring, and reports of rain and floods, and lately the hurricanes which did much damage in the USA. The implication is always that humans are causing climate change by emission of CO2 and these weather events are a result of that.
Let’s remind ourselves what NASA said about climate: “No weather by itself is evidence of global warming/climate change, as the test is whether the weather adds to a new weather pattern over many years or even millennia.”

Ian Bradford: Are the Global Temperature Estimates Used in the IPCC Reports Contaminated by Urban Warming Biases?
Labels: Climate change alarmism, Heat Island Effect, Ian BradfordThings are very different now. Roads are sealed, high concrete buildings dominate our cities, and air conditioning units are fixed to most buildings. Cities are full of vehicles, as well as people. There are often airports nearby. Many small businesses also occupy places in cities. All these things contribute to making our cities very warm places, especially in summer. In fact, most of the time, the temperature in a city is higher than the temperature in the surrounding countryside. This is known as the Urban Heat Island effect.

GWPF: Calls for Met Office to retract false ‘more intense storms’ claim
Labels: Benny Peiser, Climate change alarmism, Global Warming Policy Foundation, GWPF, UK Met OfficeLondon, 13 February – The UK Met Office has been accused of seriously misleading the public about climate-driven storms in the UK.
On 22nd January, the day after Storm Isha, a senior meteorologist from the Met Office stated on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast that “when we see these storms they are more intense and that’s down to climate change”.

Ian Bradford: Convincing Arguments Against Anthropogenic Climate Change
Labels: Climate change alarmism, CO2 emissions, Global Cooling, Ian Bradford, Man-made climate change, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Agency, Sea level riseHere are a few reasons why human caused climate change is a gigantic fraud.
Background
The roots of this climate scare lay in an environmental movement of the 1970’s. The club of Rome (environmental consultants to the UN) used computer modelling to warn that the world would run out of finite resources if population growth was left unchecked. They came up with the following statement: “In searching for a new enemy to unite us we came up with the idea that....the threat of global warming would fit the bill.”

Clive Bibby: We are at a crossroads but the choices are clear.
Labels: 2024, Climate adaptation, Climate change alarmism, Clive BibbyUnfortunately, for those still contemplating an
uncertain future, the time is not yet right being able to view the next 12
months with anything other than dread.
After all, most of those who are suffering unimaginable hardship are doing so not because of problems of their own making.

Mike Hosking: The alarmism has to stop
Labels: Climate change alarmism, Mike HoskingOne of the growth industries these days is alarmism.
There has been some solid reading to be done this week in Australia as they trumpeted some stunning so-called facts on climate change, based on "ground-breaking new research".
