Dr James Allan: What’s So Great About Diversity?
Labels: DEI, Diversity and Inclusion, Dr James Allan, Meritocracy, Positive discrimination, Universities, Woke Authoritarianism, Woke Gobbledegook‘Diversity is our strength.’ One hears this, or myriad variants of the same idea, unrelentingly. Certainly I work in an Australian university where the extent of higher-ups pushing this notion does indeed qualify as unrelenting, even matching totalitarian state levels of propaganda. But even outside the hallowed halls of impartial, politically balanced academia (did I write that with a straight face?) the mantra or cliché that diversity somehow delivers a stronger balance sheet or a more cohesive society or just better outcomes is pervasive in today’s democracies that have committed themselves to multiculturalism and to the various neo-Marxist versions of feminism. Sure, those spouting these ‘diversity is a panacea’ nostrums never cash out the claim. They never tell us precisely how ‘diversity’ is making society better or wealthier or more unified. We are all just supposed to take it on faith, as it were. We’re just to believe the bureaucratic, political and various professional bodies’ elites who push this line, and believe it simply because they are the ones telling us it’s so.

Dr James Allan: Trump’s Lesson in Remedial Education
Labels: academic freedom, Anti-RacismClaudine Gay, DEI, Diversity, Donald Trump, Dr James Allan, Harvard, Positive discrimination, racism, The ConstitutionI have hesitated to respond article-by-article to Roger Partridge’s continuing attacks on the Trump administration beyond my initial response and rebuttal in these pages to his first anti-Trump piece. That was where I argued that Roger’s comparisons of Trump to Hitler, Mussolini and Hugo Chavez were, shall we say, a tad overdone. My general view is that more than a few people on the political Right side of politics (and near on everyone on the Left side) have been infected with a strong dose of TDS, or ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’. All of us can agree or disagree with this or that policy of a US President, including those of President Trump.

Erick Erickson: This is What Losing Looks Likes
Labels: Culture warriors, DEI, Erick Erickson, Trump AdministrationThe Trump Administration has decided to gut the Voice of America and other American propaganda media outlets like Radio Free Europe. You’ll note the press headline is the Trump Administration is gutting “pro-democracy” voices. These actually are entities whose jobs are to push the American message. Growing up overseas, I had a shortwave radio and I loved picking up these broadcasts.

The dialogue was prompted when the organisation posted promotional content on its social media, announcing proudly their reaccreditation to the ‘Rainbow Tick’ programme.
Rainbow Tick is an organisation operated by the Kahui Tu Kaha charitable trust in Auckland, which enjoys tax free status as a charity and is not beholden to the Official Information Act.

Michael Laws: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and the myth of fairness
Labels: Centrist, DEI, Indoctrination, Michael Laws, Treaty of WaitangiThe Platform’s Michael Laws critiques TVNZ and RNZ for what he calls the indoctrination of DEI principles. He argues that state-funded media actively promotes identity-based hiring and policy decisions under the guise of fairness.
Laws takes issue with TVNZ’s extensive coverage defending DEI policies and linking them to the Treaty of Waitangi. He points to a 13-page article criticising Donald Trump’s rollback of DEI initiatives in the US while advocating their expansion in New Zealand.

Darren Gee: A Golden Age for American Meritocracy
Labels: Anti-Racism, Darren Gee, DEI, Diversity and Inclusion, Kamala Harris, Meritocracy, President Trump, Racial Justice, United StatesThe inauguration of the 47th President of the United States was a moment that occupied the wild fantasies of millions of Trump supporters since November 2020, when Joe Biden was declared victorious and Trump’s political fortunes had seemingly run dry. All would testify to the surreal spectacle of when fantasy became reality this week, as Donald J. Trump was received by the current President, his Vice President, three former Presidents, the Supreme Court Justices and four of the five wealthiest people on Earth, and took the oath to return to the Presidency.

The recent news that GeoNet has been merging science with the myth, mysticism and legend of Māori traditional knowledge in their 2024 Geohazard Information has provoked a scathing response from international commentator, Professor Jerry Coyne (University of Chicago). This follows close behind publicity around the public funding of research projects that involve mixing of traditional knowledge and modern science which invited the inference that New Zealand had given equivalence to traditional knowledge and modern science.
