Dr Bryce Edwards: The Greens need to front up on the farcical Darleen Tana inquiry

Key Facts

* Allegations arose in early March that Green MP Darleen Tana had been involved in migrant exploitation before her election to Parliament.

* On 14 March, the Green Party commissioned a lawyer to investigate the allegations and suspended Tana.

* This week, further information has emerged about Tana’s alleged management of migrant workers, and separately, the Electoral Commission has referred one of her 2003 election advertisements to the Police.

David Farrar: 95 days and counting

A month ago I blogged:

There is no way the investigation will have taken nine weeks. The Uffindell investigation took only five weeks to complete, and that was dealing with events from 20 years ago where witnesses had to be tracked down.

Almost certainly the Green leadership have the report, and have had it for some time. They don’t need to release the report, but they do need to tell us whether it substantiated the claims against Tana, and what the outcome will be.

Mike's Minute: The Greens are a basket case

Do you get the feeling the only moderately normal person in the Greens left the building a couple of weeks back, and he is sitting in his new corporate financing job feeling a new lease on life?

Surely as he read, as I did, the tale of Darleen Tana on full whack doing virtually nothing and his good mate Tory "let me bugger Wellington up" Whanau, he must be feeling just a bit guilty about hanging out with such a bunch of no-hopers.

David Farrar: More claims against Tana

Stuff continues to break stories about Green MP Darlene Tana. The TLDR version is:

* A migrant claiming they are owed $25,000 and were sometimes paid under the table

* A second worker has also lodged an Employment Relations Authority (ERA) claim for lost wages

Ele Ludemann: Black week for Greens

Last week was a black one for the Green Party.

One of its former MPs, Golriz Ghahraman, was in court where she entered a guilty plea to shoplifting and one of its new MPs, Darleen Tana, has been accused of migrant exploitation.

Dr Bryce Edwards: Further integrity problems for the Greens in suspending MP Darleen Tana

Is another Green MP on their way out? And are the Greens severely tarnished by another integrity scandal?

For the second time in three months, the Green Party has secretly suspended an MP over integrity issues. Mystery is surrounding the party’s decision to first suspend Darleen Tana from her small business portfolio six weeks ago, and then yesterday to suspend her from their caucus while an independent investigation is made into her links with alleged migrant exploitation.

Kerre Woodham: Before everyone gets too uppity about the Greens, all parties' MPs live in glass houses

Green Party MP Darleen Tana has been suspended amid allegations she is linked to migrant exploitation at her husband’s company. A statement from the Greens’ co-leaders said Tana was suspended on Thursday afternoon because it was a conflict of interest with her small business portfolio.

The claims first came to light on February 1 when Tana informed the party a complaint had been made to the Employment Relations Authority (ERA) by a worker at her husband’s business, E-Bikes NZ.
