John Porter: An open letter to Prime Minister Luxon and the coalition cabinet.

An open letter to Prime Minister Luxon and the coalition cabinet.

Prime Minister Luxon and members of the coalition cabinet,

For how long do you think our country can allow its treasury funds to be plundered, for the country’s social services such as health and education to be run down to a point to where they are barely able to service the populaces needs? For how long will you allow the nation’s infrastructure to deteriorate due to a deficiency of funds?

For how long will you allow one of the worlds most attractive places to live slowly descend into 3rd world status all because of spurious and illegitimate claims lodged by the Waitangi Tribunal that have seen and continues to see billions of dollars be shoveled into Maori tribal corporation pockets.

Peter Williams: How Christian are the 400 Church Leaders?

To the extent that I’m not Muslim or Hindu or a Buddhist or a Sikh, when I’m asked what my religion is I answer Christian. That doesn’t mean I’m a practicing church-going Christian or a devout one. But I know about being a Christian because I’ve been one all my life.

What I do know is that in the Christian church there is only one sacred text. It’s called the Bible.

That’s why it’s somewhat staggering to find out that in 2024 many Christians view the Treaty of Waitangi as a sacred document. Actually that’s wrong. According to these more than 400 church leaders, presumably all of them Christian although this isn’t stated in reports, it’s Te Tiriti which is sacred and covenantal.

Bob McCoskrie: The pro-drug crowd’s own goal

The pro drugs crowd are back. They’ve been silently sulking for the past 4 years since losing the cannabis referendum despite significant support from the media – and it’s not that they’ve stopped sulking, but they’re just trying new things to try and suck in the public. But it’s the same crowd

According to a Newshub report – and interestingly it was only Newshub that reported this…

Clive Bibby: Letter from the Provinces

Open letter to David Seymour, Christopher Luxon and all potential candidates from both the Act and National parties offering themselves to the electorate at the next general election.

It is becoming common place for those of us here in the provinces who are suffering under the dictatorial whims of the current administration to hear that the cavalry is about to come over the hill and wipe away any trace of this disastrous spell on the treasury benches - almost as if we would be able to blot it out of memory like a bad dream.

Let’s examine whether this confidence in the alternative might be misplaced.

Henry Armstrong: The Capture Is Complete - The Politicisation Of New Zealand’s Universities

An old friend recently sent me a letter reflecting upon many years of university service.  I thought it so important that it is well worth sharing:

AN OPEN LETTER TO NEW ZEALAND UNIVERSITIES

As a triple graduate, Professor, lecturer, researcher, PhD examiner  and programme director with over 37 years of university service, involving five of our eight universities and their relationships with government, media, public and private organisations, I believe I am in a position to comment on certain current issues and the future direction of our tertiary education sector.

Hugh Perrett: Open letter to Government and the Prime Minister

Open letter to Government and the Prime Minister on the Mandatory teaching and learning of Maori and other major “Maorification” related agenda issues.

Prime Minister, I must take strong issue with Government’s well publicised agenda and action to make the teaching and learning of Maori language mandatory in our schools and the learning/speaking of Maori a precondition to working for the Government Service (arguably to facilitate “stacking” the Public Service with activists keen to reinforce and support Government’s Maorification agendas).

Latin has recently been deleted from school syllabuses because it no longer has utility as a language and would therefore be wasting some 15/20percent of time available to students for educational options much more relevant, useful and beneficial to their future lives.

Hugh Perrett: Open Letter to the Prime Minister

Dear Prime Minister,

Many, many of we New Zealanders are heartily sick of and extremely annoyed at your Government’s ongoing campaign to bring about a change in our country’s name from New Zealand to Aotearoa.

This has obviously in effect involved instructing Government Departments and major media (at least) to continually push the name Aotearoa in association with or, increasingly, at the expense of our country’s name, New Zealand.

We, as a country have spent billions of dollars over many, many years promoting the name New Zealand and giving it identity and meaning internationally.

It is our Brand name in the same way as names like Coca Cola, Colgate, Persil, Watties, Palmolive, Milo, Vegemite and many others are brand names instantly conveying the identity, positive benefits and positive consumer associations with them.

None of these brand owners would for a second contemplate changing the name of these branded products.

Dear Dr Carr

The third-to-last paragraph of your “Letter from the Chair” in the Commission’s Report dated 31 January 2021 is:

We will consider all evidence we receive through consultation and are prepared to change any part of our work in light of this.”
