Anticipating the Trump presidency, people across the Western world are shrugging off the pall of wokeness. Even Canadians rate Donald Trump twice as highly as their own recently departed prime minister.
And they’re backing his stance on mass immigration and illegals.
Nearly half of all Canadians believe that mass deportations are necessary to stop illegal migration, new polling shows.
A Leger poll done for the Association for Canadian Studies found that 48 per cent of Canadians hold that view – just once percentage point shy of Americans polled who, with the election of Donald Trump, could see such a policy enacted when he assumes office next year.
Canadians will only be able to watch on with envy as Trump’s mass deportations start rolling out.
It’s not just illegals, either. Canadians are as fed up as any other Western country with being flooded with the detritus of the developing world, hands out for whatever they can grab.
The polling also found that 65 per cent of Canadians say Canada is accepting too many legal immigrants. That figure, less than a year ago in February, was just 50 per cent. In March 2019, only 35 per cent of Canadians held that view.
So much for Canadians priding themselves on their ‘progressive’ attitudes to immigration. They’ve had enough: virtue-signalling is all well and good until the harsh reality of mass immigration hits hard.
Canadians’ views are hardening on regular immigrants, who have been blamed for increasing housing costs and employment challenges, and the federal government, after overseeing the settlement of hundreds of thousands of newcomers per year, has moved to cut its immigration targets.
Canadians can see right through such window dressing, though.

Among those polled who said they were aware of the lowered immigration targets, 67 per cent still said it was too many. Among those who were not aware of lowered targets, 79 per cent said Canada was taking in too many people.
What’s remarkable is how consistent the immigration fatigue is across all walks of Canadian life.
While residents living in rural communities today are slightly more likely to support the sentiment (69.4 per cent) compared to urbanites (62.9 per cent), the feelings are widespread.Likewise, there are small gender gaps on the issue, with men expressing slightly more negative sentiments about immigrants (43 per cent) than women (38 per cent).
Confounding the cosy assumptions of the ‘progressive’ left, non-whites are actually less likely to be pro-immigrant.
When asked about their view of immigrants, respondents who identify as white had both a slightly more positive (51 per cent) and negative (41 per cent) view than those who identified as not white or a visible minority. Only 48 per cent of the latter group had a very or somewhat positive view of immigrants.
The opposition to immigration also confounds income brackets. Both those making under $40k per year and those making over $80k were equally opposed (47 per cent and 46 per cent respectively). Only the middle-income earners were significantly less opposed to immigration, at 36 per cent.
The next four years are gonna be epic.

- America, rather than look for ways to counter Russian presence & dominance in & across Africa, had spent their time in providing assistance in education, trade development, home improvements - would the outcome have been better.
- the WHO had been better at their job & tasking then maybe some of the diseases that destroyed people may (just may have) avoided the mass deaths that occurred.

It has also been stated " that most of those crossing the English Channel, sadly with assistance from France, are young men, of potential military age " - to what purpose.
It is interesting, for those readers who may not be aware, but the French -
- in coastal Ports have been seen to aid & abet the launching of the Rubber Rafts, with outboard motors into Channel waters
- Navy has coastal patrol boats in the Channel, but do not intervene

paid the French large sums of money to stop the flow of these people - money well spent!
Also the English are now seeing the results of this mass migration, with knife attacks upon white people, the citizens of England. Sweden has had the same issue, and their political correctness has seen the rise of immigrant attacks on the Swedes. Germany has also had the same issue, Angela Merkel can " claim credit for beginning this pandemic".
Academics holding conferences to discuss these issues, or polling people to gain data for analysis ain't going to resolve the problem.
Tony Abbot, as PM in Australia had the solution, applied it, and the " howls of derision were loud and long, mostly from those who had other agendas, than protecting Australia.
You will find the same attitude in ALL European Countries as well as the UK.
And America - they saw in 2016 the " flow from the South" Trump made an attempt - please go back and read my comment re " people with other agendas, and their collective howls ", Biden - well less said the better - and since 2016 Americans have seen the results of this people flow.

Big deal Lush. All that proves is that Canada has as many rednecks as the US. And the UK for that matter. The US will shortly learn what Brexit taught the Brits. Immigration is a vital component of of every developed county's economy. They do the jobs the locals consider themselves too good to do, and at the other end of the spectrum, they import vital skills the locals
can't be bothered to learn. A bit like New Zealand really. Remind me how much fruit and veg was left to rot because no-one wanted to pick it after COVID when the Pasifika seasonal workers were not allowed into the country.
