Another day, another seat at the table: Welcome to the Waitangi Club - By someone who's definitely not getting a seat
Well, what a surprise. Another day in the Beehive, another golden chair handed out in the name of “representation.” This time, it’s Gerrard Albert – yes, that Gerrard Albert – the man with more Treaty miles under his belt than a Crown SUV. Freshly appointed to the WaitangiTribunal by Māori Development Minister Tama Potaka. Three years, nice and tidy. Just long enough to approve a few more grievances, keep the machinery well-oiled.
Now don’t get me wrong – Mr. Albert has an impressive CV. Chair of Ngā Tāngata Tiaki o Whanganui, helped with the Whanganui River Settlement (where a river became a person – remember that one?), and three decades dabbling in resource management. But here’s the thing: it’s beginning to look less like a Tribunal and more like a reunion tour of the Treaty Industry All-Stars.
Diverse thinking? Debate? Heaven forbid! It’s not about balance, it’s about mana. And mana, in this case, seems to mean: "Was involved in a Treaty settlement? Come on in!"
No wonder Kiwis are starting to glaze over when these appointments roll in. It’s like watching lotto numbers being drawn, only the balls all say the same thing: "Post-settlement leadership," "Natural resource authority," "Crown negotiator." How very unexpected.
And of course, this isn't just a feather in Mr. Albert’s cap – it’s a signal. A signal that the Tribunal is less about resolving grievances and more about sustaining a never-ending industry of compensation, co-governance, and cultural consultancy. Call it what it is: a self-perpetuating, taxpayer-funded juggernaut that shows no sign of slowing.
But hey, don’t worry – there’ll be handouts for all. Just as long as you're fluent in Treaty-speak and can name three iwi without blinking. As for the rest of New Zealand? Grab a cuppa, pay your taxes, and try not to ask too many questions.
“It’s not Co-Governance… it just walks, talks, and spends like it"

Oh, of course! A ‘shared management board’ that includes iwi and the Crown — but don’t you dare call it co-governance! It’s just a charming little group project where some parties have veto rights, some get funding streams, and others — well, mostly just pay for it.
And if you dare raise an eyebrow? Boom — you’re a redneck, or better yet, a Neo-Nazi!
How very inclusive.
Apparently, a legally enshrined governance arrangement between iwi and the state over public land isn’t co-governance — it’s just a warm, fuzzy collaboration. You know, like kindy… except the crayons are million-dollar taxpayer-funded deals and land use decisions.
Totally normal. Totally not political. Move along.
Apparently, it’s not enough to be a qualified nurse with actual medical skills anymore — now you also need to be a part-time sociologist and full-time Treaty scholar.
Because, according to the left, your ability to give a life-saving injection hinges entirely on your ability to pronounce “whānau” with the right vowel emphasis.
Forget stethoscopes — bring your decolonisation handbook! Cultural competence has no merit when your appendix is bursting, your blood pressure’s crashing, or your child can’t breathe. In that moment, you want a sharp mind, steady hands, and a nurse who knows medicine — not someone reciting land acknowledgments between IV drips. The , but let’s not pretend it trumps clinical excellence and common sense.
Meanwhile, the outrage over Whānau Ora reforms is rich. Four million “whānau serviced” sounds impressive… until you remember that’s more than New Zealand’s entire population. (Stats NZ 1.38 million families in NZ)
If anything, that stat screams “creative accounting.” But sure, let’s ignore failing core services like Plunket and spend more time holding healing circles and debating who colonised who, instead of fixing ED wait times. Maybe the left’s plan is to guilt-trip the flu out of people?

I presume no masochists not congenitally ardent pro maori are available for the Tribunal. I was astonished when Prebble enlisted but he soon realised what a bear pit he was about to jump in to. It is astonishing that the govt finances such a vast organisation devoted to insurgency.
Only an external figure like Trump or Farage can forge the change of direction that NZ urgently needs to survive as a first world democracy. But even they are not facing the well organized Maori coup based on falsehoods and now likely - and ready - to erupt in violence at any moment. NZ might be condemned to division forever.
Call it what it is... APARTHEID.
And will any of this improve the lives of any regular Kiwi or the huge underclass of welfare dependent, incarcerated or unhealthy/unwell/infirm Maori?
And still the legacy media with all their simple minded, indoctrinated story tellers tell the public nothing that they need to know.
NZ has been completely infiltrated by the Ardernist apologectic white people who are enthusiasticly destroying NZ.
For what purpose ?
Is this just a game to them ?
Such a pity that we no longer have laws punishing sedition - and without question that is what is happening in front of unblinking eyes.
You don't see any Asian NZers, about 30% of our population, advocating handing over democracy to an ethnocracy.
It's the ones with a European or part Maori ethnicity pushing hard for Maori control of NZ.
Why ???
Do they really want Maori gangs, at either end of the social spectrum who have no respect or regard for the civilisation that Europeans brought them to be in control ?
The country was not always like this. Family members remember harmony among races, as do I. None of us recall this separatism growing up. Surely Luxon and co. remember a country like this as well? What absolute cowardice and self-serving agenda to go along with all this. New Zealand was always held up to be a good example of race relations in an imperfect world. What part-Maori didn't achieve academically they more than made up for in the sporting arena. People need to be very careful what they wish for as apartheid doesn't work anywhere. The people who think they will gain the most could come out worse off. It's called Karma.
Indeed. As another appointment is made to the WT; another Maori consultation is undertaken; another Maori claim is funded by the taxpayer; another unelected Maori is appointed to some governance entity; as our nurses, pharmacists, lawyers, students, Govt Depts et al, all spend productive time learning and espousing about te ao maori, tikanga, matauranga and reciting 'Aotearoa' - all the while our GDP tanks as we throw yet more resources at an irresponsible cohort who are not pulling their weight. It's no wonder why our Minister of Finance struggles to rein in yet more debt.
When are NZrs going to say - ENOUGH!!! Or are the "she'll be right" complacent masses going to sit by as Rome burns and disintegrates? Just maybe we deserve it?
In my wide experience of nurses most now are not NZers, they are filipino, Pacifica and a mix of other ethnicities. Unfailingly they have been courteous, kind and competent and have my total confidence. Do they have to waste their time learning cultural propaganda and a dead-end non-language? Most Maori I know would not care about it either. What is the purpose of bullying them into being indoctrinated into studies of alien practices that are of no value to their professional activities wharever?
