Donald Trump’s address to the United Nations General Assembly surprised the members present who were probably expecting a speech of the type most leaders give. Those speeches, full of platitudes, banality and hoary old chestnuts, have more of an ‘over the teacups’ feel about them especially when the subject matter is deserving of a stronger approach. They are filled with warm fuzzies and politically correct speak that reflect the talkfest that the United Nations has become. And we are paying for it.
The United Nations is no longer a problem solver for the crises in the world. It just has endless meetings talking about them – 80 on the Middle East situation since October 7. If they do attempt to put their best foot forward, it usually ends in disaster. I mentioned in my last article that, out of 2,600 trucks carrying UN food aid to Gaza, only 300 got through. The rest were looted by Hamas but the world, fed by left-wing media lies and with ignorant world leaders, blame Israel.
The truth is Israel and America, through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, have so far distributed more than 170 MILLION meals to the citizens in Gaza. Anyone heard that statistic in a news bulletin? Of course not: it doesn’t suit the narrative.
President Trump delivered a few home truths to the monolithic UN organisation. He went so far as to ask what its purpose was. He listed the seven wars he has so far stopped, not by military means but by the threat of enormous trade tariffs – and without even an offer of help from the UN. He said the United Nations had so much potential but is nowhere near living up to it. They write strong letters, he said, but just empty words. Empty words don’t end wars, action does, he told them.
He spoke about mass illegal migration, which he said was out of control and unsustainable. Your countries are going to hell he said. They’re being ruined. He spoke of the 25 million that came through America’s southern border during the term of the Biden administration with financial assistance provided by the UN. They have to be returned but at least there are virtually no illegals coming in since the closing of the border and the effective use of ICE to find, arrest and deport them.
He labelled climate change a hoax in terms of the green energy policies, which were hurting countries’ prosperity and driving up household energy bills. He ridiculed halting of oil and gas exploration in the North Sea and criticised the building of windmills that would ruin the beautiful English and Scottish countryside. A certain amount of hypocrisy exists, he said, giving the example of Obama saying something must be done about the carbon footprint and then flying to Hawaii for a round of golf.
The Paris Accord is a scam, which is why he took America out. America was expected to pay a trillion dollars, while China doesn’t have to start paying until 2030. So China can pump buckets of what supposedly causes climate change into the atmosphere and doesn’t even have to pay for the privilege. He somewhat sarcastically congratulated Europe on reducing its carbon footprint by 37 per cent at the cost of lots of jobs and factory closures. He pointed out that the sacrifice made was completely wiped out and then some by a global emissions increase of 54 per cent.
He also wants the development of biological weapons stopped, calling them unbelievably dangerous.
Those countries who have recognised a Palestinian State are honouring Hamas, he stated, when we should all be making getting the hostages back a priority. He was right, of course, with Hamas celebrating Keir Starmer’s speech of recognition. These world leaders seem oblivious to the consequences of their actions. It is simply virtue signalling to recognise something that doesn’t even exist.
While the right-wing media were understanding of the points he was making, the left reached for their dictionaries to find suitable words to suit their narrative. So we got deranged, unplugged, Donald Trump rage cycle (whatever that means), bonkers and tone-deaf rant. This is the sort of reaction that will ensure the left continue to be doomed in the mid-term elections in America next year and the presidential election in 2028. They keep ruining their chances by being unable to detach themselves from the lies and misinformation they continue to peddle.
Donald Trump’s world is a somewhat more realistic one than that inhabited by the likes of Starmer, Macron and Albanese. If you want an inkling of how New Zealand might vote, I can only tell you what I saw on video. During Macron’s speech, at the point where he stated France would recognise a Palestinian state, a number of delegations stood and gave a standing ovation.
NEW ZEALAND WAS NOT ONE OF THEM, remaining seated and giving no applause. Should that prove to be the case, I expect recognition in some form from Trump and his administration. And Winston would well and truly secure my party vote next year. Another possible clue is Winston being invited to dinner occasions with Trump two years in a row. He has missed both due to being held up in traffic; a common occurrence in New York.
I, like everyone else, want peace in the Middle East. Who doesn’t? However, I will not support a virtue-signalling pipe dream fantasy by a bunch of leftie leaders who are doing nothing more than political posturing so they can feel good about themselves. The fact that they don’t see it that way tells you all you need to know about how far removed from reality they obviously are.
The United Nations itself is no longer fit for purpose. It is nothing more than a political mouthpiece for those who support a political agenda similar to its own. It was originally founded as an organisation to end wars and promote peace, justice and better living for all humankind. Sadly, today it fulfils none of those goals. It is a monument to verbosity, nothing more and nothing less.

Trump delivered the most refreshingly honest speech to an assembly of stunned mullets exposing the UN’s total incompetence. It’s time that this 80 year organisation be put out to pasture.
The fact that trump’s word salad was itself virtue signalling appears to have gone right over your head Jay-Cee
Great article JC.
Here is a breath of fresh air:-
"Singapore will recognise Palestine when it has an effective government, accepts Israel's right to exist and renounces terrorism."
To hope Peters will deliver the same message from NZ.
You forgot the Tylenol issue which NZDSOS say is something that needs discussing since the rate of autism has shot up from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 30 since the beginning of big increases in pharmaceutical use. They say what pregnant women (not people) take during pregnancy is vitally important and it used to be monitored much more carefully . Forcing the covid jab on pregnant women particularly was evil since it had not been tested.
I agree with the other issues Trump talked of as well and mentioned by JC, thank you.
If you can ignore some of Trumps off-hand ramblings, the points he makes are true. The UN has become a toothless expensive talk fesr
