Clive Bibby: A Leopard never changes its spots

One of the features of modern politics that continues to baffle me is the number of so called “authoritative” commentators who want us to believe past leaders have become reformed characters and are no longer a danger to the public health.

The best example of this so called “Road to Damascus” conversion is our former PM Jacinda Ardern’s pretence that she has suddenly become a non partisan defender of equal rights for waring factions throughout the globe offering herself as an advocate for peace based on mutual understanding.

Well, her decision to boycott the prestigious Adelaide Writer’s Week as a result of the organisers’ banning of a Palestinian Australian author’s participation shows just where her true loyalties lie.

The reason for the banning was because of repeated antisemitic comments by this Palestinian author and was in response to the mass murder of Jews at Bondi Beach recently - an act of terrorism unseen by the World Jewish community since the atrocities of October 7th in Israel and the second most horrific slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust.

My guess is that the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Foreign Minister Penny Wong would have choked on their muesli as they cried crocodile tears while condemning the brutal attack. They too would no doubt have also struggled to accept the banning of the Palestinian author’s participation but felt the time was not right to express their true feelings.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, not a word from Ardern but, having left the political arena she is now able to revert to type and put her money and mouth where her support has always been.

The old saying that “you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time” has finally caught up with Lady McBeth.

The veil of empathy that made her famous during our own public massacre (that time it was innocent Muslims who suffered the consequences of racial hatred), in hindsight appears to have been genuine and in that context she deserves the accolades that came her way during that traumatic time.

However, now that she no longer has responsibilities towards a cross section of racial constituents, she is free to show her own antisemitic feelings in a forum where she is no longer accountable.

Her rant at the UN last November claiming a genocide had been committed by the Jews in Gazza while ignoring the evidence of the October 7th massacre was an insight into her real persona unmasked from the selective morality she promoted while in office.

Let’s hope that Kiwis will recognise this fraud for what it is.

We will not be duped again into believing the former PM is a impartial supporter of equal rights wherever they are under threat

The clandestine operation He Puapua attempted under her direct control should have alerted us to her Machiavellian nature.

Time for a reappraisal of individual choices made by people we thought we could trust - and for these precious folk with an exaggerated opinion of their own self worth it’s time to bugger off!

We are simply not interested in their distorted view of the world we live in.

It doesn’t resonate with us mere mortals.

I’ve got a feeling things are about to get better for all of us in spite of the imposters chirping away from afar.

Happy New Year.

2 facts:
1.Ardern is a phoney - very easy to see for intelligent people.
2. Many people are not sharp enough to get her real agenda.

" our former PM Jacinda Ardern’s pretence that she has suddenly become a non partisan defender of equal rights for waring factions "
Under Ardern, Labour used devious words during the Chatham Island Bill never saying that Maori perpetrated genocide against the peaceful Moriori.
She did blame the then non-existent NZ Parliament for not doing enough and made all of us pay compensation to the Moriori.
To now protest about genocide elsewhere today is sheer hypocrisy.

You can't use "equal rights " and Ardern in the same sentence, after she tried to entrench He Puapua.
Hypocrisy at its finest.

Ardern has always been set for the world stage, too much of a talent for backwater NZ. Tall poppy syndrome persists, now even after someone has been out of our lives for years!

The planet today is confronted with serious, and growing problems, and Ardern's presence or otherwise at the Adelaide Writers' Week is not one of them.

I once "heard" a story about a "Witch", that every morning, when she arose from her bed, and having bathed, took her mirror and looked at her reflection therein.
As she had done every day, since time long past, she doth proclaimed -
" Mirror, mirror, what doth thou see"?
The mirror, to keep the peace and as it had done every morning, sine time long past, replied-
"I see, a face that reflects greatness, truth, sincerity, compassion, kindness -"
The Witch was pleased, and applied her makeup.
The mirror, took anti-nausea pills, yet again.

When a Jew was denied speaking rights at an English school , within his electorate of which he was the elected member he didn't hire lawyers and escalate the conflicting situation crying discrimination against this action and wrecking havoc on the entire school administration.
But that is what the Palestinian woman writer did refusing to acknowledge her anti Semitic ill timed statements , soon after Bondi. were the reason for her cancelling.
I am beginning to consider Mohammad ism is more of an ideology than a religion. They ignore completely the ethics of a group like left -wing , woke , Marxist ones with ideas and values incompatible with many of their edicts , but instead embrace them because they are anti Semitic , like themselves
The way Iran spent billions of dollars sponsoring terriorist groups like Hamas , Hezbollah and Houthis, while Iranians suffered from impoverished conditions from a damaged economy makes me believe some Muslims' highest priority is being a war machine out to destroy the West and Israel
The likes of the socialist leopards also have that agenda.

Tologa Bay is a very isolated place where access to the outside world and to people who have normal views is very limited. The old deserted buildings near the wharf are full of ghosts, so providing a perfect setting for conspiracy theories. Like the one about Te Hapua being a serious proposal that took hold amongst the small segment of the population who also believe that the earth is flat and that the moon landing didnt happen. FACT - sources around governments generate think pieces like Te Hapua all the time as people see a possibility to get their pet projects taken up and implemented. The number of such documents that get that far is about as high as a 2 year old can count. But the main characteristic of conspiracy believers minds is that they never change. So Te Hapua will remain until the last of these people dies.
Minds that never change also explains why this Clive Bibby and all his fellow commentators here cannot comprehend that it is possible to condemn both the Hamas attack that killed 1200 people, and the Israeli response that killed 52,000 civilians. Because all of you are totally fixed on Israeli casualties being awful and unacceptable, and due to racism or some other kind of prejudice are somehow able to complete tune out the far worse massacre in Gaza. That possibly because you can't accept that Hamas is a terrorist organisation that has no regard for the civilian population. Civilians have no more ability to control Hamas than all of you do to stop the P dealers in your communities.

But my saying this is a complete waste of time - with little else to do at Tologa Bay today Mr. Bobby will be sitting there seeing Te Hapua coming down the road, and working on his never ending Jacinda obsession. His choice.

Readers who follow my writings will no doubt be wondering why l bother responding to such ignorance.
It’s one thing to establish yourself as a knowledgeable and credible critic who knows what he or she is talking about but another to hide behind a nome de plume offering little evidence that he or she ot it has ever been to a place the name of which they can’t even spell correctly.
But l do so only because l must challenge the mischaracterization of the local people l know and love. They don’t deserve it and should n’t have to suffer the indignity of false claims being made about their heritage and contribution to modern society.
“Richard” purports to have an intimate knowledge of all things Uawa (Tolaga Bay) yet the evidence he offers suggests he may never have been here.
Had he done so, he would note that, although it is a rather remote corner of New Zealand, we do enjoy coverage of all the technology that allows us to keep up with the world events - even minutes after it happened.
Consequently, l am as aware as anyone regarding the public announcements regarding and factional support for causes our former PM chooses to follow.
However, in order to bring this discussion to a close, may l suggest that “Richard” comes out from behind his cover and writes under his real name a column expressing his views and by so doing, enable readers to fact check his wild accusations in order to see whether he can justify his ignorant criticism
Is that too much to ask?

Clive, surely you don’t believe you have to know the name of a person in order to verify claims? In such a connected community as Tologa Bay all of the information required to do so must be at your fingertips I recall one commentator on this site demanding photo ID from some commenters - shades of a police state or worse - stalker in waiting? Facts based conversations are all the rage these days, let’s give it a go…emotion and hyperbole-free!

Maybe Richard can enlighten us his reasoning why he thinks the Te Hapua report should be dismissed as a conspiracy theory? The facts are the Jacinda spent lots of taxpayer dollars getting the report commissioned, then kept it hidden from everyone (including her coalition partners). She knew it would be unpopular and probably cost her the 2020 election if it was made public. You may want to dismiss it Richard, but a lot of NZers are very wary

The lack of mental health care is frequently cited as a major problem in New Zealand yet there is hardly ever a mention of the dismantling in the 1990s of the very basis of mental health care in this country.
I was on the West Coast DHB board when Seaview Psychiatric Hospital at Hokitika was closed in the early 1990s as part of the political dogma-driven agenda known as "deinstitutionalisation" . The Coast board members had no say whatsoever in this tragic agenda. As an example of what went on behind the scenes I was shown assessments by which Seaview residents were assessed as being suitable for living in the community. One that sticks in my memory is of a resident described as, "a danger to themselves and others" suddenly re-assessed as having "mild behavioural problems" - and so they went into so-called "community care". It was often stated that new caregivers in community houses were given extensive training. One such person went public saying the only training they received was how to operate a fire extinguisher.
But leaving aside such details the glaring fact remains that a mental health system which had 8,000 or more residential places for those with serious mental health problems suddenly had very few.
It should be noted that 8,000 beds was in line with other countries with good mental health care.
Where are the politicians to raise this crucial issue? We can only guess as to how much of the escalating violence in New Zealand society is due to the fact that desperate people who should be in secure residential care are now left to fend for themselves.
