Air New Zealand, our proud national carrier (and 51% taxpayer owned, don’t forget), has decided it’s not enough to simply fly planes or balance books. No, it must now soar to even greater heights of virtue signalling.

Professor Robert MacCulloch: James Shaw Greenwashes the airline....
Labels: Air NZ, Emissions targets, James Shaw, Professor Robert MacCullochNZ's Biggest Hypocrite? (Former) Green Party Leader James Shaw, who sits on Air NZ's "Sustainability Panel", Greenwashes the airline, as its Emissions Targets are Dumped into the atmosphere.
Air NZ is now led by a chap who used to work at Walmart. But its pricing on domestic routes is anything like the budget basement prices that made Walmart successful in the US. So its certainly no Air Walmart, at least when it comes to buying tickets. Not only does it have monopoly powers on domestic routes, Air NZ also garnered international publicity when it stated that it was committed to a specified reduction in its emissions by 2030.

Lushington D. Brady: Air NZ Admits It Was All Bullsh*t
Labels: Air NZ, Biofuels, carbon emissions, Climate Cult, Lushington D. BradyCorporate wokesters admit that their “climate action” is virtue-signalling bullsh*t.
The thing about corporate pandering to the Climate Cult is that, sooner or later, harsh reality slaps even the most determinedly virtue-signalling CEO in the face. The alternative is going broke quicker. That’s because ‘climate action’ is as ruinously expensive as it is useless.
Only last week, even Twiggy Forrest gave up pretending that his ‘green hydrogen’ hyperbole was just that.

Professor Robert MacCulloch: Is Air NZ telling us the full truth in its stock exchange profit announcement?
Labels: Air NZ, Professor Robert MacCullochAir New Zealand has announced to the Stock Exchange that the company's expected earnings before taxation for the year have fallen $10 million from $200 - $240 million to $190 - $230 million. "Air NZ has continued to see softening in revenue conditions over the fourth quarter both domestically and on the North American market," the carrier stated. Funny how the airline always conflates domestic and international routes in its reporting.

Two Big Monopolies Slug it Out - Auckland Airport versus Air NZ.
Air NZ is complaining that Auckland Airport is a monopoly - passing on capital expenditure charges arising from its airport re-development to the airline. Not to be outdone, Auckland Airport is firing back - saying Air NZ's monopoly over domestic air travel is one of the most powerful in the world and the airline wants a small crappy airport to stop more competitors. Who's the dummy loser in this fight between two big fatties, neither of which is constrained by market discipline? You and me, of course. We're the ones paying and queueing.
