NZCPR Newsletter: A Test of Strength

New Zealand’s new Prime Minister Chris Hipkins has had a dream start. Uncontested for the leadership, he was then thrust into centre stage by the dreadful weather events that caused havoc and a tragic loss of life in Auckland.

While Labour MPs will be encouraged by their subsequent jump in the polls, the real test of strength for new PM will be whether he stands up to his Maori Caucus and puts a hold on their co-governance reforms - especially Three Waters.

Wendy Geus: Water bill trojan horse for ‘privatisation’ of water by Maori

Axing entrenchment clause deflects Jacinda’s lies and their ‘open secret’ by blaming National.

Privatisation of water into elite Māori iwi hands is the reason behind all the furore over the government’s shambolic unpopular Three Waters bill. Yes, they may care about water quality and improvements to infrastructure.

However, their crucial Maori ownership goal meant changes could not be done locally as local government are lobbying for and would be undertaken by a National/Act government. The entrenchment clause was a fool proof way to keep water ownership in Maori hands for perpetuity once the Three Waters Bill was passed into legislation.

Until it all went horribly wrong.

Graeme Reeves: Call An Early Election

The Government has lost the trust and confidence of the electorate and should call an early election.

There is a doctrine under employment law which is analogist to the situation confronting the Labour Government.

Under employment law when there is a loss of trust and  confidence in the relationship between and employer and an employee, caused by the behaviour of an employee, there are grounds for a justifiable dismissal.

That is because trust and confidence goes to the core of the relationship and without it there is no longer a viable relationship.

The 6th Labour Government led by Jacinda Ardern is not only incompetent but also deceitful.

John Porter: Co-governance Is a Con Job

Today I’m advocating that Co-governance is nothing but a huge confidence trick being played on New Zealand by Maori activists and skillfully validated by Ardern’s treacherous Government.

Co-governance is most definitely not Maori activists’ goal: Maori sovereignty is the objective!

Co-governance is merely a stepping stone. The previous stepping stone was Co-management.
