The UK Telegraph reports “Special education spending surges 70pc amid autism wave”. UK Department of Education figures show that the cost of supporting schoolchildren with special needs has jumped by more than two-thirds since lockdown from £6.9bn in 2018/19 to £12bn today. One in 100 UK primary schoolchildren are now entitled to formal council support as a result of autism, double the one in 200 before the pandemic.

The University of Auckland has announced that it is joining a research project of national significance co-hosted with Victoria University of Wellington and supported by the University of Otago and the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research.

The project is to develop an mRNA vaccine platform. They plan to turn research into drug development, clinical testing and manufacture at an industrial scale. The plan has been signed off, presumably by Judith Collins MP, Science, Innovation and Technology Minister, and the participating universities. It has so far attracted an initial $70 million funding.

An opinion piece caught my eye in the New York Times this week entitled ‘My Patients Used to Be Enthusiastic About the Covid Vaccine. What Changed?’. The article is behind a paywall, but you can guess the content can’t you?

A vaccine enthusiast medic bemoaning the near universal rejection by the public of the latest mRNA Covid vaccine boosters. For the author, Dr. Ofri, the sanctity of vaccines is unquestioned and unquestionable, no matter how poorly they perform and how many people are severely affected. If you want to know about her sorry arguments in detail you can read a critique by the indefatigable journalist Alex Berenson under the title “They STILL won’t quit pushing the mRNAs”.

The pandemic has brought out the best and the worst in people. In order to understand what is going on, we need to refer to history. When dictators empower supporters to persecute, oppress, and blame a segment of the population, things rapidly go from bad to worse as the inflamed followers seek to outdo each other in extreme actions. Once the privileged group is allowed to openly hold outlandish opinions and act upon them without censure or restraint, things rapidly get out of hand. Traditional values of justice, morality, and kindness are readily abandoned.

It is all the fashion today for the media to talk about the next raging contagion and what to do about it.

Stuff newspaper chimes in this morning with “Covid-19 NZ: How to control a pandemic without a lockdown“.

A galaxy of experts (the usual suspects) interviewed by Stuff recommends that we need to spend hundreds of millions of dollars getting ready. According to Prof. Chris Bullen of Auckland University, we need “layers of people and tools on standby”—part of a new public health taskforce, presumably well stocked with highly paid experts and modellers permanently ready to assume control.

Guy Hatchard: The Road to Ruin

A May 31st report in the Guardian entitled “Three jabs best for preventing Covid infections, global analysis finds” reports on a study published by the BMJ on the same day.

The authors searched global World Health Organisation (WHO) databases in an effort to discover whether mixing and matching vaccine types was better than sticking to one brand.

The study concludes that a combination of any three mRNA vaccines is 95% effective against hospital admissions. It also says that even two doses of mRNA vaccine are 99% effective at preventing severe Covid.

Did the authors realise that these astonishing and entirely unconvincing headline effectiveness figures will grossly mislead and deceive the public?
